Haredi Rebel Leader Rules That Haredim Must Donate To Failing Faction Newspaper Rather Than To The Faction’s Yeshivas Or Other Charities
Non-hasidic haredi rebel faction leader Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach reportedly told followers through a surrogate that donating to his faction’s failing newspaper, HaPeles, must take precedence over keeping charity pledges made to his faction’s kollels (yeshivas for married haredim), buying or maintaining Shabbat generators that allow haredi families to get electricity from a ‘kosher’ source rather than from the Israel Electric Company, and other charity commitments.

Non-hasidic haredi rebel faction leader Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach reportedly told followers through a surrogate that donating to his faction’s failing newspaper, HaPeles, must take precedence over keeping charity pledges made to his faction’s kollels (yeshivas for married haredim), buying or maintaining Shabbat generators that allow haredi families to get electricity from a ‘kosher’ source rather than from the Israel Electric Company, and many other charity commitments.
HaPeles, which is approximately two years old, is suffering from a severe drought of paid ads while its rival Yated Ne’eman, which is the mouthpiece of the mainstream non-hasidic haredi faction headed by 100-year-old Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman, is doing well and is still the largest haredi daily in the world.
Because haredim (at least officially) don’t regularly use the Internet or watch TV, their only outlets for news are approved haredi newspapers controlled (and heavily censored) by various top haredi rabbis or haredi radio stations – which normally makes approved haredi newspapers financially stable even while the the non-haredi print news media is suffering through a decline caused primarily by competition from the Internet.
Nonetheless, support for HaPeles has been weak from the start.
Rabbi Eliyahu Tziternboim, a key member of the 83-year-old Auerbach’s faction, recently spoke at a gathering of haredim. The haredi news website Behadrei Haredim obtained recordings of this gathering and reported that Tziternboim said that HaPeles was so completely desperate for money that it was on the brink of closing and could even shut down that week.
Tziternboim then said that Auerbach had ruled that haredim who had made ongoing pledges of money to kollels (meaning they had signed on to donate a specific amount of money to a kollel every month or every week) should break those pledges and give the money to HaPeles instead, and he went on to give other examples of ongoing commitments that, according to Auerbach, should be broken in order to rush the money to the failing faction mouthpiece publication.
They should just move the newspaper operation to their mother's basement. Sarcasm..

There were lots of things like this in Brooklyn in the 60's and early 70's. One I remember seeing was "God's Little Gold Book Plan" which advised people to pay that particular Reverend first, even before the rent, electric bill, etc. Some things never change.

This traitorous old fool should have Been locked up for the crime of sedition, when he instructed his followers, not to respond to the registration notices from the IDF,it his high time the government takes off their kid gloves when dealing with these traitors,
This traitors followers had the chutzpah the audacity to riot against the draft,at the exact same time when thousands of Jewish soldiers are fighting and risking their lives for their country

That is why it is sarcastic. I even said so. Nobody has been a bigger supporter of this blog than myself so get a grip. I for one will be one happy yid when the money losing Postville plant closes and all the hidden go back to Brooklyn where they belong.
