The Day Before 16-Year-Old Mohammed Abu Khdeir Was Kidnapped And Murdered, Police Mishandled The Attempted Kidnapping Of Another Arab Boy

Israel police logo"…After the attempted kidnapping, a police patrol car was called to the scene. The family asserts that they gave details of the incident to the police officer and remarked that Jews were involved. According to the police, the policeman asked them to come to the police station and file a formal complaint. Since the family did not do so, the police did not follow through.…" even though right wing rabbis, politicians and thugs had called for revenge attacks and even though gangs of right wing Jews had already physically attacked at least 8 Arabs, most of them teens.

The attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old Arab boy the Shin Bet and top police are now reportedly saying has been definitively linked to a gang of Jewish terrorists – many of them minors – who were arrested early today was allegedly mishandled by local Israeli police in Jerusalem.

Ha'aretz reports:

…East Jerusalem resident Dina Zalum told an investigator for human rights group Btselem that a man tried to abduct her 9-year-old son, Musa, in their Shoafat neighborhood a day before Abu Khdeir's death and that the police did not follow up on her complaint.

"I heard the sound of a car braking as it entered Shoafat," she said. "I heard a boy's voice call out, 'Mommy, Mommy.' It was the voice of Musa shouting for help and calling out to me."

Zalum recalled that she looked back and saw a short, thin man with eyeglasses, and described him as having pale skin and long hair.

"He grabbed Musa by the throat as if he were trying to prevent him from screaming," she said. "I attacked him and started to beat him with the cellphone that was in my hand, and I cried, 'They're trying to kidnap my son.' Another man got out of the car and beat me together with the first man."

Meanwhile, said Zalum, Musa managed to get away from the kidnappers, who shouted at each other in Hebrew.

"They pushed me to the ground," she said. "My head hit the pavement and I lost consciousness." Passersby who heard the mother's shouts intervened and the kidnappers fled.

After the attempted kidnapping, a police patrol car was called to the scene. The family asserts that they gave details of the incident to the police officer and remarked that Jews were involved. According to the police, the policeman asked them to come to the police station and file a formal complaint. Since the family did not do so, the police did not follow through.

The police also asserted that the father of the family told officers on the scene that  the attackers were not Jewish. Only after the abduction and the murder of Abu Khdeir, were members of the Zalum family called in for an investigation to give their version of the events.…

Ha'aretz doesn't report it in this article, but it is exactly this type of police indifference – encouraged, some say, by factions inside Israel's government – that has allowed attacks by extremist Jews on mosques, churches, monks, Arab-owned olive groves and Palestinian villages to continue unabated and unpunished for years.

And unfortunately, it easily may have allowed the kidnapping and gruesome murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir to happen the following day.

Why do i get the impression that SR is more concerned for the " innocent " so called Palestinians over his Jewish brethren who have been victimized by Arab terror ? Has his loathesome self hatred reached a new low?

Once the story quotes Btselem as a source it immediately lost all credibility. They are nothing but another self hating jewish organization who have been shown to fabricate stories, aggravate and provoke israeli settlers and the Israeli police in the past.
But im sure the naysayers will just mock my geographic location and ignore the facts.....

Mordy, are you still doing graphic web design in Monsey? Rgds

Mordy –

Work really hard to try to process: THE SHIN BET AND POLICE VERIFY THAT THE ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING TOOK PLACE AND SAY THESE SIX JEWS DID IT.

As for Betzelem, they have issues, to be sure, but they've been right lots of times with their claims, and this seems to be another one.

People like you and Jack and D are pathetic and even sick.

Murdering innocent people is never okay and neither is collective punishment.

A lot of Palestinians hate Jews, many for no good reason.

But people like these six alleged Jewish terrorists and their supports give Palestinians – and, indeed, all non-Jews – reason to hate us.

But even if that were not true, it would still be wrong to murder innocents.

Now toddle.

The Arabs are the inocent poor guys and theIsreali occupiers are the thugs???
SM
Go get your head examined!!!!!

There should be no tolerance for vigilantes and rioters on either side. Price taggers should be prosecuted and where possible, the crimes preempted, but so, too, should Arab stone throwers, molotov coktail throwers, tire burners, etc. not be tolerated. Vandals who damage vineyards and olive groves, or who steal cattle (in teh Triangle), whether Jew or Arab, should not be tolerated, and accurate statistics should be kept on complaints, investigations and arrests, so taht the public can assess whether the police is doing its job. Needless to say, politics have no place in police work, law and order is law and order.

Shmarya-

I never claimed the shin bet was wrong. I certainly never advocated killing innocent civilians. It is stupid and barbaric. Collective punishment however is at times a necessary evil to act as a deterant. I dont see why you have to resort to name calling every time someone criticizes you..

My point was that your seemingly self hatred blinds your views in terms of the Israeli -Palestinian (sic) conflict.. Your site was refreshing to read in terms of outing the problems in the Jewish community that was customarily being swept under the carpet.. Pleasse focus on that and not Israeli politics. You are in way over your head.. The Arabs for the most part are bloodthirsty killers whose disdain for Jews are boundless. Jews on the other hand are peace loving and kind and law abiding certainly with respect for human life.. certainly therer are exceptions on both sides.

Shame on you or anyone else who attempts to equate the two..

Mordy,

SR is not spewing hate towards his fellow Yids and Israelis. He is trying to balance the coverage, and prove that Jews and Israelis do not have a monopoly on pain and bad acts. The mothers of the slain boys, the yeshiva boys and the 16 yr old Arab, feel pain exactly the same.

If you think that the Arab nature is to be a bloodthirsty killer, then the men who killed the 3 yeshiva boys should not get a harsh prison sentence when caught. Likewise, since Jews are generally peace loving and kind, any sentence they will receive should be harsher than normal. According to you, the Arabs acted true to their nature while the Jews committed a true hate crime, something anathema to their core DNA.

" The mothers of the slain boys, the yeshiva boys and the 16 yr old Arab, feel pain exactly the same."

I beg to differ..Jews value life and Arabs don't ( for the most part) and therefore it stands to reason that they would mourn the loss at a much greater level..How many Jewish Suicide bombers ahve you met? How else can you fathom the Giald Schalit 1000+ for one prisoner exchange deal? Not only do we respect life, we even respect the body after death, unlike these Arab Savages who mutilate and and cut up the bodies after they kill...Of course none of this is reported inthe press...How can you not see this?

The rest of your post simply makes no sense IMO...If a person is a Natural Killer, should we be more lenient with them because it's in their nature? This is precisely the exact mode of sickness that our society faces today..Pity the Killer at the expense of the victim...Equate the killer WITH the victim..Sick!!!

Mordy, you have no respect for anyone who is not exactly like you.

Another blanket accusation that has no basis in fact...What part of my post, pray tell, made you come to that conclusion?

Mordy –

I'm in "way over my head"?

Process:

1. I've met with and dealt with many Israeli politicians over the past three plus decades.

2. I have an extensive background in hasbara – very good hasbara.

3. I started and ran one of the first media watch's in the country.

4. I sat on the international executive of a Jewish organization that dealt extensively with anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activity on college campuses.

5. I actually lived in Israel for more than 2 1/2 years. I've been in bomb scares and been on a bus that was stoned. I know someone who was on a bus when a terrorist shooting happened (he confronted the terrorist with his handgun) and I know people who were in a bombing on Jaffa Road. Not only that, I was close to someone who was a Jewish terrorist in the 1940s. He grew up in Jerusalem and had Arab friends. Several of his family members were involved in terror attacks, as well – including the bombing of the King David Hotel and movie theater bombing.

And that's an abbreviated list.

I have far more experience than you do and far more knowledge than you do.

And let me be clear – you are a bigot.

None of the oldline Jewish terrorists I knew relished killing Arabs. (Some did relish killing specific Arabs who had killed Jews first.) I even knew one who was allegedly involved in the murder of Folke Bernadotte and the attempted murder of a British army officer who had been cruel to the Jewish underground. Even he didn't relish mass killing. And oddly, in late middle age he became friends with a Palestinian man in the Diaspora. (The talked food and old Jerusalem and avoided politics as much as possible.)

Who thinks like you and behaves the way you want?

Kahanists and other truly damaged people who are thugs first and human beings and Jews second.

I once asked Kahane – who I actually knew, BTW – why he surrounded himself with people like that.

He said he didn't have a choice, he had to work with what was available, and said he stopped having any direct control of the JDL once he went to Israel because, basically, he couldn't be here every day to babysit these thugs. (I paraphrase.)

Think about that.

Shmarya-
1) meeting with politicians doesn't make you any more an expert than the corrupted inept politicians themselves.
2) if the media watch you started is anywhere near the bias you have now,,then you havent learned a thing

3) Does sitting in an organization dealing with anti-israel activities give you any more credibility than me? Obviously through osmosis you became an anti israel bigot yourself. Maybe stay away from organizations such as BTselem and J street and you will be able to come to your senses and think with a clearer head..

4) I lived in Israel for 5+ years.Does that make me twice as knowledgeable as you?

I repeat i never advocated killing innocent Arabs although i dont shed a tear when it happens. Although I was never a member of Kach, i was, and still am a great admirer of the late Meir Kahane tzl. I met him hundreds of times and had lengthy conversation with him.. And just for the record, even he wasnt in favor of killing arabs rather he advocated forced expulsions if they didnt want to be loyal to the state of israel. That certainly sounds more reasonable to me than having a 5th column living amongst us. If that line of thinking makes me bigot so be it. I challenge anyone to come up with a better soplution,,

Think about that before you mouth off again

You fit perfectly the profile of the mindless thug Kahane himself told me he worked with only because he had no choice.

Your last response was one of your better pieces of journalism. Full of facts and truths based on many hours of research. Just admit you have nothing but contempt for your fellow Jews ( not just the observant) and even more for the State Of Israel..Your parents ( who I understand, you still live with) must be very proud!!

Mordy –

I've done more for my fellow Jews – including helping to save thousands from starvation, persecution and likely murder – than you ever will.

Like I said, Kahane felt he was saddled with people like you and used people like you begrudgingly, out of desperation.

And you make what Kahane said very clear for all who read this.

You are a sick person.

Ty shmarya.

I can always count on you for a classy answer that actually addresses the issues. You excel at hyperbole and you are usually short on content. I understand you despise those with differing views and have no issues resorting to name calling. You have something I'm common with most liberals That is their MO. Congrats. Job well done

I've answered you, Mordy. But as Kahane agreed, people like you are too dumb to understand those answers.

I think it depends not so much on the age of the child, but the area in which you live.As our preschoolers grow more independent, we still need to supervise them closely, but we might also want to teach our children about dealing with strangers. Alerting children to “stranger danger” can both help them to be safe and reduce parents’ anxiety. I've decided that the best way to protect my daughter is to have her registered to SafeKidZone. It's a panic button application installed on my daughter's phone that whenver she's in trouble she will just press it and it will simultaneously alert her loved ones and the 24/7 call center that she needs help and if needed, the call will be routed to the nearest 911 in her area. You can visit their site and you will find more of their interesting features http://safekidzone.com/?a_aid=52f12fafd5de8

Please stop using the word 'toddle' so much Shmarya. It makes you sound repetitive and inarticulate. Plus it gets on my nerves.
