Tensions are reportedly rising in Rome, where two separate violent incidents between pro-Israelis and pro-Palestinians erupted in the past two days, Ha’aretz reported.
Eight Palestinian supporters have been hospitalized, two with serious injuries, after allegedly being assaulted by pro-Israeli people enraged by the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens on the West Bank.
When the news of the Israeli teens’ deaths was reported Monday night, the Jewish community held a memorial prayer service in the old Ghetto. After the service, a number of the participants formed a mob and marched toward the Palestinian Authority office across the Tiber River from the Ghetto.
A group of street vendors shouted pro-Palestinian slogans at the marching Jews. The Jews responded by assaulting them. Seven of the vendors, one of them a woman, were hospitalized.
Some members of the Jewish community reportedly fear the assaults may be the work of self-appointed Ghetto patrols and see the situation inside the Jewish community as deteriorating.
“The merciful understatement of the newspapers – ‘pro-Israel youths beat…’ – [actually] alludes to a trend of squads that need to be stopped immediately,” Gad Lerner, a popular Italian-Israeli TV anchor often critical of pro-Israel hardliners, tweeted after Italian media chose not to identify the Jewish assailants as Jews.
Inside the Jewish community, right wing pro-Israel activists previous assaulted a woman at a book event in the city and tried to block the leftist author from speaking.
In January, four pro-Palestinian activists were allegedly beaten by what they described as a gang of “about fifteen young men carrying baseball bats.” The incident took place inside the Ghetto. The pro-Palestinian youths were walking home after a night out, saw a poster commemorating Ariel Sharon, who had just passed away, and ripped it off the wall.
Within minutes, a group of armed men arrived and beat them up.
Jewish communal leaders deny the presence of right wing gangs inside the ghetto.
[Hat Tip: Sheesh.]
Like the German woman who was quoted as saying in reaction to a protest by Jews against changing a street name back to that of a Nazi supporter; "when will they leave us alone already?" These poor poor gentiles. I feel for their pain.

The miscreants who spew Jew-hatred, from the white supremacists in Idaho to the Black Israelites in Times Square to the anti-Israel street vendors in Rome, are frustrated losers who aim only to irritate. For this reason we should remain vigilant and ignore them. For I have learned from experience that the "silent treatment" is horribly painful to the bully. If you take away his ability to hurt you, you take away his power.

Forza!
Arab interlopers have been creating havoc in Europe for years. It's about time some of them got beaten back after misbehaving.
I have had conversations with some Paisanos I have met about this who are disgusted by these Arabs.

Even the merciful "pro-Israel youths" is misleading. Many loyal Israelis would strongly oppose this type of behavior.

And yet so many on this blog found it not in the least off putting when some nut beat the daylights out of a close to one hundred year old Rabbi Steinman?

Dave you appear to be mentally confused.
Do you think these annoying street vendors in Rome were leading the poor little lambs who beat them to the slaughterhouse?

The Italian Jewish community is the best Jewish community on the face of the earth. It is one of the only Jewish communities that isn't run by a bunch of weak, snivelling little kikes. Here are the things that Italian Jews do that the rest of the Jewish world should emulate:
1) They have armed groups and essentially a militia force, which isn't afraid to use violence against anti-semites. Because of this, anti-semites know there is a price to pay for being anti-Jewish in Italy. Also as a result of this, ordinary Italians have respect for Jews and see them as tough.
2) Italian Jews are respectful toward and encouraging of converts. Many people in southern Italy are discovering their Jewish roots and their conversions are being facilitated by the Italian Jewish community. Also, non-Jews with no Jewish roots at all are discovering Judaism for themselves. Not only does the Italian Jewish community assist them in converting, but they are also willing to create entirely new Jewish communities totally out of converts, such as in Syracusa, Sicily.
3) Italian Jews preserve their unique cultures and heritages, which include Sephardi, Ashkenazi, native Italki, and Libyan cultures. They are proud of who they are, and the Italian Jewish community is experiencing a renaissance. The Orthodox rabbinate there is a liberal modern Orthodox one, exactly the kind that should be dominant in any community, and they cooperate with both the Lubavitchers and the Progressives in strengthening Jewish life.
