Due to the deteriorating security situation, haredi radio stations in Israel will be in silent emergency radio broadcast mode over Shabbat to broadcast vital security updates to Shabbat-observant Jews, the government’s Homefront Command announced.
According to the Jerusalem Post, haredi radio stations Radio Kol Chai and Kol Barama will broadcast across the country on 92.1 FM, 92.8 FM, 93 FM, 104.3 FM and 105.7 FM.
In southern Israel, like on every Shabbat, 101.5 FM will still be the silent station.
Silent stations broadcast nothing on Shabbat unless a vital security announcement is issued by the government of the IDF. This allows Sabbath-observing Jews to leave their radios on set to a loud volume and not be disturbed unless an emergency arises.
What happened to the ancient Jewish alert systems of blowing shofars, sending messengers, or lighting bonfires on hilltops? Instead, frum Jews are relying on the invisible electromagnetic waves discovered by gentile scientists?
Just goes to show, when the chips are down (medical emergencies, terrorist threats etc.) haredim know which kind of learning is truly valuable. They always put their trust in science and technology. (Although smartphones would be a better warning system than radios - if only they weren‘t banned).

Wait, aren't they supposed to be kept perfectly safe because of Torah study?
