As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli right-of-center politicians scrambled to condemn extremism after six Jews were arrested earlier today for the kidnap-murder of a 16-year—old Jerusalem Arab boy, Mohammed Abu Khdeir, three legal Arab workers were reportedly attacked in Hadera.
Abu Khdeir’s charred body was found Wednesday morning in the Jerusalem Forest west of the city, only several hours after he was kidnapped in East Jerusalem. He was reportedly burned alive, although he may have first been knocked unconscious.
The six men – all thought to be right wing extremists – allegedly attempted to kidnap a 9-year-old Arab boy a day earlier, a police investigation has reportedly revealed.
One of the six arrested reportedly confessed to kidnapping and murder and incriminated the other five suspects.
Economy, Religious Services and Diaspora Minister Naftali Bennett of the right wing Zionist Orthodox HaBayit HaYehudi Party previously had refused to condemn extremism. But he rushed to issue a statement as soon it became public that the 6 Jews had been arrested.
"We will demand the Terrorist Law we put forward be applied to the boy's killers," Bennett said. He reportedly called the murder "heinous" and "anti-moral and anti-Jewish."
The Terrorist Law would prevent the six from being paroled if convicted.
Finance Minister Yair Lapid slammed the murder.
“We must all feel shame at the new recent events.…Israel cannot allow itself to stay quiet in face of the murder of a young innocent Arab youth at the hands of Jewish murders. We cannot differentiate between blood and blood. Radicals' attempts to take the law into their own hands harms the social fabric of Israeli society, our international interests and our attempts to fight terror,” Lapid reportedly said.
While visiting the families of the three murdered Israeli teens, Netanyahu condemned calls to murder Arabs.
"I condemn calls of 'death to Arabs' just like I condemn calls of 'death to Jews… This is a sensitive time and I urge everyone to act responsibly. I do not differentiate between terror and terror,” Netanyahu said.
But after he left the families, Netanyahu was also quick to point out that “we” Israeli Jews are far better than “they” – West Bank Arabs – are. He attacked the Palestinian Authority for inciting against Israel and said, “they consider murderers to be heroes.…This is an asymmetrical conflict. We do not seek their destruction; they teach a very broad segment of their society to seek our destruction. And that must end. There is too much suffering. There is too much pain,” Netanyahu said.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the kidnapping of three Zionist Orthodox boys on the West Bank last month, allegedly by Hamas terrorists, soon after the kidnapping became public, and Abbas condemned their murders when the boys’ bodies were found early last week.
Two words:
Death sentence

Both sides are now in a race to the bottom of the barrel.

Maskil, you might take a note from the enlightenment and drop the barbarism of the bible. Its due to religion that these appalling murders on both sides have occurred. The less religion has to do with our lives the better.

While the death penalty does not apply, even in cases of capital murder, the government must send a strong statement. Whereas it has not been expressly stated, the perpetrators of this revenge killing are likely ultra-orthodox, and will have the entire Haredi community behind them. If they are given light sentences or are found not guilty, as the Israeli courts are wont to do, it will result in an uprising within and without Israel which will have disastrous implications.
It is painful that instead of allowing the justice system to work its way through the murder of the three jewish boys, several ignorant yahoos decided to take the law into their own hands, and the result of their actions has both complicated and clouded this case. Ultimately, the results will not please anyone, and justice will never be served to anyone's satisfaction.
