West Bank Jewish settlers in Hebron celebrated Lag Ba'Omer Saturday night with a giant bonfire indicative, many would say, of their thuggish behavior and their racism – they illegally set up their huge bonfire in an olive grove belonging to local Arabs and loudly partied and danced there while burning Palestinian flags as police and IDF soldiers did nothing to stop them.
The grove, located in the Palestinian Tel Rumeida neighborhood and belonging to the al-Knibi family, is located in the front of a house associated with the Youth Against Settlements center – an organization that documents anti-Arab actions by Jewish settlers, IDF soldiers and police in Hebron, Ha’aretz reported.
While the the al-Knibi family looked on, settlers burned the flags of the Palestinian Authority, Fatah and the international observers. The settlers also blasted loud music over a PA system.
As Haaretz photographer Emil Salman tried to take photographs of the bonfire from close range, he was reportedly assaulted by several settlers.
A policeman then asked Salman – not the settlers – to leave the area for fear that he would disturb the peace with his presence.
The the al-Knibi family have reportedly previously filed complaints with the police and the Civil Administration about unauthorized and often dangerous use of their land, but police and the CA have done nothing to stop it from happening.
On Friday, after settlers had already begun to pile the wood old tires for the giant bonfire in the al-Knibi family’s orchard, a Civil Administration officer reportedly asked settlers that the bonfire not be built on the the al-Knibi family’s land, but he was ignored. The settlers continued to pile more wood and the police and the IDF did nothing to stop them.
And then on Saturday night, knowing for two days where the settlers would be lighting their giant bonfire, the police and IDF also reportedly did nothing as the settlers lit the giant pile of wood, tires and trash on fire.
The conversion of the settlers into fascist thugs is now complete.

But your friends the Arabs who continue to taunt, and don't allow jews on the Temple Mount, and have transformed parts of it in to a dump, oh and burn the Israeli flag, this we must tolerate, this is why I hate liberals

Of course, silly me, I thought we are better. Nah! No longer. Temple mount is a mosque compound now for over a millennium. Moslems then wrestled control from whom? Byzance? While the bulk of us where busy deepening our roots in loving and cuddly Europe. As to burning the flag, It's a national sport now among bonafide Jews too. Go on hating. Your type are nothing to brag about.

Dave "Arabs...don't allow Jews on the Temple Mount..."
Actually, our Rabbonim don't allow Jews on the Temple Mount. In spite of the ongoing efforts of a series of politically-motivated minor nationalist rabbis to encourage Jews to ascend the Temple Mount to "assert our rights" (aka stick it to the Arabs and try to provoke wider conflict) there is NOT A SINGLE "godol" who permits it, including even the most Zionist of the Chief Rabbis.
Stop trying to pervert Yiddishkeit with your disingenuous nationalist agenda.

SimoneF: I'm an orthodox Rabbi and I must say you are very wrong.
1 - We have 3 opinions regarding entering in EVERY PLACE on the Mount: Rambam (it is still prohibited as on the Torah days and all the rabbinical prohibitions); Radbaz (only what the Torah forbid and there would be no caret for those who trangress); Meiri (since there is no Mikdash, every place is permissible without any purification whatsoever).
2 - Those who ascend abide by the Rambam as a chumra, even though historically it wasn't not at all like this (do your research)
3 - "Godol" - Don't make me laugh. No such jewish concept exists. Yep, many orthodox and ultraorthodox Rabbis live by them and the "Daas Toirah". They are just neo-reformists.

And in other news, a bonfire was held in Sydney to commemorate Lag B'Omer. At least 3 alleged peadophiles were seen danncing there. Manny Wackjob, CEO of My Tuches Still Hurts said: "I am shocked that this is allowed to happen. There is no evidence that they ever abused anyone but the way they danced suggests they are peadophiles who have no place around bonfires." Wackjob, who gave up a job he never really had to be full time Chief of My Tuches Still Hurts because it pays the rent, added: "I come from a family of 100 kids. Most of us are messed up. I am therefore fully qualified to testify against these guys cavorting around a bonfire and I think Chabad should be sued for allowing this to happen."
Manny Wackjob, who has no one really paying attention to him apart from a few followers on facebook said he hoped that Shmarya Jackass would post his story on his website FailureScotty so that at least a few more people would read it and he could then feel as if he's doing something with his life.
Meanwhile, Shmarya Jackass has seen a significant drop in users and comments and so abandoned the typepad system he was using in order to invite the trolls back and make his site look busy again. Donations however are said to have hit an all time low. Shmarya Jackass will have to go back to a day job. It is anticipated he may move to Australia where he could work for Manny Wackjob.

I laughed so hard when I read this I almost peed my pants. Classic. Whoever you are, you should be a comic script writer. I bet when they wake up they'll delete what you wrote. But thanks for the laugh.

"Orthodox Rabbi" what you have written is a typical distortion. What you fail to mention is that the opinion of the Meiri runs contrary to that of ALL the other Rishonim, who forbid entry whether based on the Torah prohibitions or the Rabbinical prohibitions and regardless of whether the transgression rises to the level of karet.
You will have to forgive my shorthand use of the term "godol" to refer to any widely-recognized and highly regarded posek whose authority is respected in haredi, Zionist, Ashkenazi and Sephardi communities (ie excluding extreme Right Wing rabbis whose opinions on such matters are recognized by no-one but other extreme Right-wingers).
I challenge you to name a single one who permits ascending the Mount.
For your reference, the luminaries of Religious Zionism from Rav Kook to R' Mordechai Eliyahu forbid it. Along with everyone else other than those who seek to reform for no reason other than nationalist fervor unconnected to Torah and Yiddishkeit.

Why do you mock the crime of pedophillia and Manny Waks who exposed it?

SimoneF: Dont you know how to read? It doesnt matter if the rabbi is recognized and even less WHO said. What really matters is WHY.
All of those who forbid do not give serious argument and what they say on the matter is nothing more than flatus vocis. It is a simple matter: One side has arguments to permit. The other side must counter those arguments (or maybe come with a new one) to forbid.
Those rabbis just dont and people just dont care and follow them anyway. Just ask any chabad that will say to you how the sun revolves around the earth and the world is only 5774 and just about every one of those rabbis will also say that Kohelet was written by Solomon and the Chumash came as an entire book, nothing begore and no additions after...
Now ask them to arguee their positions and at the end of the day you will only hear: 1)You have got to believe because it is part of faith; 2) The gedolim says so.
Sorry, there is no such concept as a "godol".
Besides that, the "gedolim" have a hard time to forbid what was never forbidden.
Problem is that judaism turns into a cheap christiany when it values more WHO says then WHY.It becomes just another reformism.
And by the way, I CAN name rabbis that allow...about 100 of them. But what is the point?
Posted by: Orthodox Rabbi | May 20, 2014 at 02:14 AM
"Orthodox Rabbi" your continued evasions prove my point completely and make it clear to any frum person that it is forbidden to ascend the mount.
You have not come up with a single Torah authority who permits it, and basically say it doesn't matter and you don't care. And your argument consists of nothing more than "I've got my reasons and it doesn't matter who forbids it."
Everyone knows that these "reasons" amount to nothing more than nationalism and have nothing to do with Torah.

Orthodox and Rabbi means nothing. Nowadays many can be both and uneducated.

And given that he doesn't recognize any Torah "authorities," he probably gave himself his own semicha.
