A hasidic man working for a Williamsburg, Brooklyn landlord parked his car in front of 161 Clymer Street, blocking the entrance, and he refused to leave until tenants paid their rent, the Daily News reported.
Mordechai Stern stocked his car with food and his tallis and tefillin and parked it in front of the entrance so tenants could not exit or enter. Then he sat inside the car, refusing to move until the allegedly delinquent tenants paid up.
After a crowd of angry hasidim gathered in front of the building, the delinquent tenants reportedly slipped an envelope of money through the open sliver of Stern’s car window.
Stern allegedly has a history of extreme behavior with one neighbor calling the hasid a “hot head.”
A tenant in the building also questioned Stern’s behavior.
“He got a little off track. He was out of control,” the tenant said.
The 84-year-old building, valued at $399,000 by the city, is located adjacent to a Satmar synagogue.
The building’s owner, Mordechai Fischer, told the Daily News the incident was a “misunderstanding.” He then abruptly hung up the phone.
Besides working for Fischer, Stern runs a personal car service.
In 2005 the IRS won a $371,400 judgment against him and in 2007 New York State slapped him with a $107,489 tax lien.
The Daily News reports that it is unclear if those debts have been paid.
Stern reportedly refused multiple requests for comment.
Well it certainly would be a lot easier for the man to pay his IRS debts if his tenants paid their rent.

Are we sure there isn't a reason the rent wasn't paid? Did he smash the bathrooms like the other sleazeball Hasidic landlord who's been in the news lately? Never mind that this is illegal and unsafe. A machine gun in my hands and a mob of "angry Hasidim" in front of me would present an interesting opportunity for a little cleaning up of the gene pool.

I"ve noticed that you have a lot of fantasies involving violence against other. "Give me a studded baseball bat" "A machine gun in my hands".
Experience has shown that unstable people like you can be dangerous.
You need to up your visits with your psychiatrist.
I hope the F.B.I monitors this site, just in case.....Many of the disturbed shooters, first aired their craziness on the web

Hey Jimmy - I own neither guns nor a baseball bat. On the other hand I can't say that I'd be sorry to see some of these Hasidic goons receive a good beating from someone. Also there's a Dashiell Hammett story where his protagonist makes the remark that he'd like to have " .... a lynch mob in front of me and a machine gun in my hands..." so I was borrowing a bit from that. Also - and if this reinforces your impression of me I'm fine with that - people who molest and injure chlldren infuriate me to the point where if I found myself alone with one who I discovered in the act I might just do him bodily harm despite never having done anything like that in my life. Shmarya can give you my name and address - have at it.

Preventing them from entering or leaving their homes?
That's a crime.

Isn't that false imprisonment?

"valued by the city" haha, that's for tax purposes. It's worth well north of $1,000,000
