Report: Haredi, Hasidic Nonprofits Get Disproportionate Amount Of Town Of Ramapo’s Nonprofit Funding While Non-Jewish Nonprofits See Their Funding Slashed
At least 75% of Ramapo town money handed out to nonprofits this year went to haredi and hasidic groups while Head Start and other nonprofits not associated with the ultra-Orthodox community saw their allocations reduced or entirely slashed.
Report: Haredi, Hasidic Nonprofits Get Disproportionate Amount Of Town Of Ramapo’s Nonprofit Funding While Non-Jewish Nonprofits See Their Funding Slashed

At least 75% of Ramapo town money handed out to nonprofits this year went to haredi and hasidic groups, the Journal News reported.
Preserve Ramapo first made allegations of favoritism in these nonprofit funding allocations, and the Journal News confirmed them through documents obtained through the state’s Freedom of Information Law.
$309,000 was allocated to nonprofits based in Monsey, New Square and Kaser – communities within Ramapo that are heavily haredi and and hasidic.
In the previous three years, haredi and hasidic nonprofits received about 60% of Ramapo’s total nonprofit funding.
This year, due to a financial crisis Ramapo reduced allocations to many non-haredi and non-hasidic nonprofits. But funding for haredi and hasidic organizations was reportedly mostly left intact.
Which nonprofits had their funding completely cut?
• Head Start of Rockland received $20,000 per year from Ramapo until this year, when its town funding was completely cut.
• The Ramapo Haitian Task Force. Town funding was completely cut.
• Haitian Caucus-Safe Spring Valley. Town funding was completely cut.
• Hi-Tor Animal Care Center. Town funding was completely cut.
• Christ Church of Ramapo in Suffern’s pantry and soup kitchen program founded in 1980 by Ramapo Ecumenical. The soup kitchen reportedly served 17,000 hot meals last year alone. The food pantry helps an average of 48 households per month. Town funding was completely cut.
Which nonprofits got funding?
• Rockland Opportunity Development Association in Kaser received the most town funding of any nonprofit. Its stated mission is to "promote, foster and improve the health, welfare and economic status of the needy, elderly and those living below the poverty level," the Journal News reported based on the organization's 990 Internal Revenue Service filing.
Rockland Opportunity Development Association got a total of $105,000 this year from Ramapo – more than 25% of Ramapo’s total nonprofit allocation this year.
The Journal News reported that the RODA’s 990 lists a post office box as its address and one of the addresses associated with RODA, 15 Elyon Road in Monsey, is a Viznitz hasidic school.
• New Square Emergency Services, a hasidic volunteer EMT service, got the second largest allocation this year – $40,000, a $10,000 increase from 2013.
Preserve Ramapo and activist Steven White allege that Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence directed the money to haredi and hasidic nonprofits as a reward for their bloc votes in support of St. Lawrence.
The Town Board – which unanimously approved the funding at its December 11 meeting – decided on a case-by-case basis to use taxpayers' money effectively to benefit the entire town, Christopher St. Lawrence told the paper in response.
"We looked to see where we can cut back. We did that a case-by-case basis. Some were things that people didn't ask for as much money, and some were areas that we thought we could save some money. So that's what we did," St. Lawrence said. "We are helping organizations across the town that provide services for the town in a cost-effective way for our citizens,” St. Lawrence said.
However, the percentage of money allocated to haredi and hasidic nonprofits by the Town of Ramapo appears to be more than double the percentage of the town’s population that is hasidic or haredi.

No surprise in this except maybe that any money escaped to non-Haredi nonprofits.

And the Haredi trolls on this site were oh so happy to call us all anti-semites and self-hating Jews for advising the people of Bloomingburg to avoid a Haredi takeover. This is what happens when you allow parasites to overrun your town and it's council.

Do the goyim in these town vote?

The key word is "disproportionate". Given the overwhelming predominance of orthodox Jews in Ramapo, perhaps the allotment of funds was indeed proportionate. Maybe the Orthodox non-profits were entitled to 75% of the valuable funds?

What is it about this that you fail to understand?

The frumma are dangerous to all Jews because of the antisemitism rorting like this generates.
Abd does the frumma EMT organization actually help goyim?

I think St. Lawrence knows that he is going to need a few friends in the months to come so he is giving out overpaid jobs and money to his cronies.

Rodin - Galileo was Catholic, not Jewish and did not reach a conclusion about the speed of light except that it must be very fast. The delay usong his measuring technique of observing a lantern one mile away would only have been 11 microseconds - impossible to measure back then.

"It takes a thousand men to invent a telegraph, or a steam engine, or a phonograph, or a telephone or any other important thing—and the last man gets the credit and we forget the others. He added his little mite—that is all he did. These object lessons should teach us that ninety-nine parts of all things that proceed from the intellect are plagiarisms, pure and simple; and the lesson ought to make us modest. But nothing can do that." -- Mark Twain, excerpt from a letter written in 1892 to his friend Helen Keller

No, and they receive federal funding for a few of their rickety ambulances.

David--
Copied from the Jewish encyclopedia:
Baptized Jew, professor of Hebrew, and librarian of the Vatican; born in Safed Oct. 28, 1588; died May 26, 1668. His Jewish name was Judah Jonah ben Isaac. He studied the Talmud and traveled as a rabbi through Italy and Poland; visited Amsterdam; and was finally elected dayyan in Hamburg. In 1625 he returned to Poland, and was converted to Christianity in Warsaw. Expelled from Poland, he came to Italy; was appointed professor of Hebrew, first in the University of Pisa, then in the Neophyte College of Rome; and later was one of the librarians of the Vatican.

Sadly, I note that no one has managed to add a single Haredi accomplishment to the list. 'Haval al hazman'

OK - didn't know that.

Rodin - I think you are referring to Giovanni Giona Galileo not Galileo Galilei who did an early speed of light experiment.
Posted by: David | March 10, 2014 at 04:10 PM
David-- all right already. The point was not Galileo. Remove him from the list if you like, but the Haredi list is still empty.

RedLeg, You have to be kidding. The key word is "disproportionate". Given the overwhelming predominance of orthodox Jews in Ramapo, perhaps the allotment of funds was indeed proportionate. Maybe the Orthodox non-profits were entitled to 75% of the valuable funds?
Disproportionate is when Kaiser, NS & Monsey account for 24% of the population and receive 75% of the funding!
Can't wait until CSL is taking away by the Feds. His Board members Friedman and Withers are already jumping the ship as its sinking.

In fairness to the Haredi, Paul Reichman was a very successful developer, not a slum landlord. At one time his company, Olympia and York, was the largest commercial property owner in NYC. The Docklands project was his undoing, but it had nothing to do with his being Haredi. The Brits were very slow in coming through with the rapid transit line linking Docklands to the London financial district. If you Amazon streaming video, you can watch a documentary on him.

Whatever happened to all the Haredi non-profits that received e-file grants but never used the money to provide Internet access to Haredi students? Did anyone go to jail in that scandal?
Posted by: rocky | March 10, 2014 at 05:04 PM
e-file should read e-rate in my previous posting

You totally overlook Haredi achievement. Haredi scholars have discovered insect infestations in:
-Broccoli
-Strawberries
-Lettuce
-Cabbage
-Cauliflower
-Fish
-Water
-AND Pineapples.
You also conveniently ignore all the Lubavitcher Rebbe's inventions made while working at the Brooklyn Navy Yard including (but not limited to)
-Tanks
-Radar
-Atomic Energy
-Bridge Building
As well as Haredi's contributions to the legal world as to methods of -
-Perjury
-Witness intimidation
-Tenants rights violations
-Loan default
-Asset overstatement
and to the world of theology/medicine
-Bracha bestowing
-Lead pouring
-Bleeding wound oral suction
-The hepatitis pigeon cure

For those who don't live in Rockland and are out of range from the local radio station, you missed the laughs over the weekend...so, let me fill you in. CSL has his own radio show on Saturday morning at 9:00. I wonder why he broadcasts when his peeps cannot listen? Anyway, he was double talking all over the place. Telling people that HiTor Animal shelter gets money from a different account. CSL gets 5 out of 5 Pinocchio's when he tried to BS the public "HiTor gets money out of the Clerks budget" well, of course they do. Every Town pays HiTor Animal Control. What WAS cut was the extra funds as a non profit.
Then, on Sunday, Daniel Friedman took his turn in the wack a mole box on Haitian Radio. Danny gets 5 Pinnochio's for saying that only unincorporated parts of Ramapo gets money for non-profits. For a smart guy, what a dumb thing to say. Most of the money went to VILLAGES OF NEW SQUARE AND KAISER. Duh!
Danny's deadline for CSL and Esq. Klein came and went today. I wonder who won that game of chicken? Who gets to declare victory? Certainly not the Ramapo taxpayers.
The anti Military protest in NYC had a strong contingent of Ramapo Yeshiva buses. No big deal, except that they get tax free gas from East Ramapo. They might even get it for free.
CSL, Friedman, Whithers, Logan-Charles and Ullman should be ashamed of themselves. Bring the cuffs and Orange Jumpsuits fast!
