Orthodox Jewish Synagogue Hosts Post-Nup Signing Event With Couples
-Movement To Ensure All Jews Grant Religious Divorces -
As we continue to read stories in national media outlets about spouses who refuse to grant religious divorce (get) to one another, the need to act becomes ever greater. As a response, The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale - The Bayit is hosting an event for its members to come and sign Jewish Law (Halakhic) post-nuptial agreements, considered one of the best ways to address the problem of get refusal.
The event will be hosted this Sunday night, March 30th, at 7:45pm at The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, located at 3700 Henry Hudson Parkway, in the Bronx, NY. There will be a festive wedding theme with numerous couples, including numerous members of the synagogue who never signed pre-nuptial agreements.
Alongside this event, the HIR is conducting what is believed to be an unprecedented data collection effort to ensure that all married members have a pre-nup or a post-nup signed. Through surveys and personal contacts, the congregation hopes to be able to announce by the summer that all married members have signed this agreement, and to challenge every American Jewish congregation to meet that standard.
"We want to send the message that this is part of being a responsible married member of the Jewish community. Signing is about expressing love and protection for one's own partner, and setting a standard that our children and grandchildren can follow. We believe in action, and signing these agreements is a way to address this major communal problem", said Rabbi Steven Exler of the HIR.
There is no "major" communal problem....only in the minds of Avi "Sharona Halickman wasn't good enough in the end" Weiss, and the New York Times. Ever see what those Riverdale women look like? The men had best get busy in their "expressing love," because there is no way they could express lust. Hey ladies.....there is something called "makeup," or are you busy following the edicts of the Satmar rebbe?
