Orthodox Synagogue Forces Reform Rabbi And WW2 Vets To Hold Holocaust Memorial Ceremony Outside In Cold Pouring Rain

A British Reform rabbi and a number of members of his congregation – many of them elderly World War Two veterans – and others who joined them were prevented from holding a Holocaust memorial service in a building at Brighton’s Meadowview Cemetery by the board of an Orthodox synagogue, the Brighton and Hove Hebrew Congregation, the Jewish Chronicle reported.
This forced the rabbi, Andrea Zanardo, to conduct the memorial service outside in a cold pouring rain.
The decision to bar Zanardo was reportedly sharply criticized by a senior Orthodox rabbi, Vivian Silverman, of the Hove Hebrew Congregation, which is Brighton’s other Orthodox synagogue. Silverman is the brother-in-law of Britain Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis. Silverman spoke publicly about the incident last Shabbat. He pointed out that it caused other Jews to be uncomfortable (and arguably put some in danger), and noted that the Nazis did not distinguish between Jews of different religious streams.
The Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women also reportedly criticized the Orthodox synagogue’s board’s actions.
“They could have been more mature. It’s regrettable that our aging membership had to stand outside. Organizers should have anticipated the possibility of what took place, and made sure that it didn’t happen,” Jeffrey Fox, the group’s national chairman, reportedly said.
I hate these people with a fucking passion. You can no longer say anything positive to me about the frum. Those who don't approve of these atrocities stand idly by while others commit them, too terrified to open their mouths.
I insist that we now have two separate religions and religious subcultures. I will no longer even tolerate any suggestion to the contrary.

Here is the email address of the Brighton & Hove Hebrew Congregation, should anyone wish to send them an angry email (which I intend to do).

They have neither respect for the elderly nor respect for veterans nor for other Jews as brethren. Useless creatures. Jeff has it right.

I brought up all of those points in my email - not that I delude myself into thinking those black-hatted bastards give a fig about anyone's opinion other than their own.

These British Jewish Veterans are the last survivors of the great generation than crushed the Nazis at tremendous cost. It is only thanks to the bravery of such men that British Jewry was spared the fate of their brethren on the Continent. Without them there would not even be any “Brighton and Hove” or any other synagogues in England or anywhere else. Could there be any greater display of ingratitude and disrespect than forcing these elderly veterans to stand out in the cold rain in the middle of winter ?

The gender-bending world of the United Kingdom: Andrea and Vivian are men.

I guess your nephew was onto something...

And by the way.....
Does it not clearly say that the other Orthodox rabbi in town did not take it idly???
You are blinded by hate....

But a rabbi who molests little boys is perfectly acceptable to them - as long as he refrains from mixing milk and meat.
As evidenced by Jimmy and the rest of the frum drek that frequents this site, these people are a waste of oxygen. We can't do anything about their existence (unfortunately), but we can refuse to recognize them as Jews.

Approximately 60,000 Jewish men and women served in the British Armed Forces during World War II including 14,000 in the Royal Air Force and 1,500 in the Royal Navy.
These men and women were contacted by Jewish Chaplains, and their names have appeared in authentic and checked nominal rolls.
According to the latest records 2,954 British Jews gave their lives.
The number of those that were killed, died in service or who remain missing are:
Army
1,864
Royal Navy (including Royal Marines)
202
RAF
888
Merchant Navy
41

Jeff,
With this quote you are getting awfully close to crossing a red line
"We can't do anything about their existence (unfortunately), "
I think your words speak for themselves.
I pity your nephew.

The B and H community is a small one about an hour from London, but both rabbis by chance came from a (then) massive Jewish community in London called Ilford. It was however a largely non frum community with only about 20 families out of 2000 that were totally frum.
Rader was one of them, and his father was a well known bankrupt who owed millions but lived in one of the larger mansions in the area in riches.
Silverman came from a working class traditional family and was without scandal.
Hershey Rader went Lubavitch, Silverman went MO.
And when the then chief rabbi lord jacobovich came on a unique Shabbat visit to the community guess who he stayed with for Shabbat whilst snubbing the gabbay and others who invited him? Rader of gourde as money always speaks and corrupts.
So no surprise who spoke up and who forbade in Brighton and Hove

Should read "of course" not "gourde"

Are you kidding?
"Rader's" father was a millionaire living in a mansion who made his money by bankruptcy?
Between him and Bernie M. I'm thinking its time for people to start worrying about last names...I guess k'shmo ken hu...

The British remember their war dead and veterans with an annual concert held at Royal Albert Hall around Nov. 11. The concert is televised on the BBC. Even the Queen shows up. The Orthodox kick Jewish war veterans into the rain for their remembrance services. The contrast couldn't be greater.
With each passing year, I have less and less respect for traditional Jewish insitutions. A few days ago, the ADL gave its highest award to Bush 43, at a Palm Beach, FL awards dinner, in spite of Bush's support of a Federal Marriage Amendment, which would have written discrimination into the US constitution. How soon Mr. Foxman forgot the the anti-Jewish marriage restrictions which were part of the Nuremberg Laws of 1935. The dinner and Bush's speech were closed to the public but I learned about them at JTA's web site (jta.org).
!: Never base your investment or purchase decisions on the provider's last name, either for or against. It will only get you into trouble. A lot of Hollywood celebrities learned that lesson the hard way in the Madoff ponzi scheme. So did Yeshiva University and Hadassah Hospital.

We do:
1) ועשית ככל אשר יורוך
2) איש כל הישר בעיניו/איש הישר בעיניו יעשה
It takes a great sage like you to reach such a conclusion...

Good, we agree. So now you and the other frummies will no longer frequent this or any other liberal site. You'll dismantle your kiruv organizations and stay away from other people's children. Nor will you any longer expect any financial support from frei yidden.
In short, you'll walk away, shake the dust from your feet and leave us to go to gehinnom in peace.
Posted by: Jeff | February 09, 2014 at 10:28 AM
Jeff,
Who asked you for money??
Meanwhile it's Scott who is the schnorer.
Posted by: jimmyInBkln | February 09, 2014 at 10:46 AM
Kiruv organziations schnorr all the time. Chabad Houses exist upon the charity of misguided frei yidden.
Scott has the right. He's asking other liberal Jews, and he doesn't muck around with other people's kids.
You just can't get that through your heads, can you - the idea that you don't have the right to indoctrinate other people's children (even when they've reached college age)? You're all so convinced of your absolute rightness, and you're all so obsessed with the idea that you're saving their souls, that you think the rights of the kiruv worker trump those of everyone else, including those kids' parents.

What's that got to do with what I wrote?
Just as Christians, Evangelists, Reform (Jews) and Conservagoys proselytize, do the Haredim have Kiruv houses.
Different religions; different sales pitches.

I have got a brilliant idea...
Since what Shmarya does is considered work to most of you and schnorring is OK, I will ask all Haredim to start blogs crusading against the reform movement and all their criminal activities (if they are squeaky clean, we'll make up stuff...). The very first post will always begin with "gelt is good"...
I know that one blog can't support a larger family, so we shall recommend 1 blog per family member.
Now ALL Haredim will be working and earning an 'honest living'. No?

"Just as Christians, Evangelists, Reform (Jews) and Conservagoys proselytize, do the Haredim have Kiruv houses.

Even you, with your yeshiva-born reasoning skills, understand full well what I'm saying, but never mind. You'll just continue to deflect.
In any case, it doesn't explain what it is you're doing on this blog. The truth is that you're terrified we may be right, and that is why you keep coming back here, day after day, week after week, trying desperately to invalidate us. If you were really convinced we're wrong, you wouldn't waste your time here.
None of us troll Haredi blogs.

The headline is misleading.
No one FORCED anyone to HOLD any ceremony (anywhere).
They CHOSE to hold a ceremony and the Orthodox rabbi did not let them do so in the shul.

You've just validated every negative thing I've said about your kind over the past two days - and you're too goddamn stupid and brainwashed to realize it.

Jeff
I hang out here for several reasons:
1) It's a fun place; never a dull moment...
2) I keep an open mind...
3) I am not afraid of anything but rather bemoan the choices you opted for.
4) Everyone one needs a punching bag; me too.
5) I have my issues with the Haredi culture and come here to see that the alternative is in far worse state: angry, bitter, miserable, unhappy, easily irritated, emotionally tormented and unstable are just a few words that come to mind. Perhaps even a tinge of jealousy...
Perhaps you don't hang out in Haredi blogs because they cause flashbacks and awake guilt...
I say it loud and proud: Haredim are human beings and thus faulty.

"Perhaps you don't hang out in Haredi blogs because they cause flashbacks and awake guilt..."
No, because we don't go where we aren't wanted.
"Perhaps even a tinge of jealousy..."
And that is where it always ends up. Yes, we're jealous. We long to marry at eighteen someone we don't know, wear black wool in the summer and not be able to go to the bathroom without a rabbi's permission.

"I have my issues with the Haredi culture and come here to see that the alternative is in far worse state: angry, bitter, miserable, unhappy, easily irritated, emotionally tormented and unstable are just a few words that come to mind."
And of course, you're trying desperately to convince yourself that those of us in the outside world are miserable.

Your fingers may key letter after letter of wishful thinking... The fact that you are so preoccupied with Haredim gives me reason to believe that my observations are true.
Posted by: JekyllJacobson | February 09, 2014 at 08:56 PM
Jeff
I need not convince myself of anything. I am not that shallow to believe that only a Haredi Jew is satisfied... It is YOU and your ilk that are so obviously miserable. YOU make it sound as if it is impossible to live a happy productive life as a Haredi and happiness shall be found solely on the other side of the fence.
Where is your happiness? Huh? You are free to do as you damn please. Why the preoccupation with the Haredim? Don't sound like a happy chap to me.
