Jewish settler youth apparently set a mosque in the West Bank Arab village of Dir Aistia on fire today in another so-called “price tag” attack, Ynet reported.
No one was injured in the attack and the fire was contained to the mosque’s front door, which had the words "Arabs out!" spray painted on it.
The phrases “best regards from Qusra” and “revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed" were also spray painted on the mosque, apparently a reference to an incident last week in the West Bank Arab village of Qusra in which a group of 11 Jewish settler youth from Esh Kodesh entered the village and allegedly attacked an Arab boy. Villagers responded by attacking the settlers, who fled into a village constriction site where they were surrounded by an angry mob.
But local Palestinian activists, including village elders, entered the site and protected the settlers, several of whom had been lightly injured, and handed them over to the IDF.
That incident has sparked a string of new price tag attacks by Jewish settler youth, including slashing the tires of the IDF’s Samaria Brigade chief Brig. Gen. Yoav Yarom’s vehicle while Yarom was meeting with the head of the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar – a hotbed of Jewish settler violence and a center of Kahane-influenced settlers who follow radical Chabad Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh.
According to the UN, the annual rate of Israeli settler attacks against Palestinians has almost quadrupled over the past eight years.
Few settlers are arrested for price tag violence and even fewer are prosecuted. Possible prison sentences are generally light and imprisonment is rare.
Late last week the IDF was filmed standing by as Jewish settler youth hurled stones at both a Palestinian school and home. The soldiers appeared friendly with the settlers, stood with them as the rocks were thrown and took no action until Palestinians came out of the buildings and tried to drive off the settlers. At that point, the IDF threatened the Palestinians.
But burning a synagogue is antisemitism. I am not a kumbaya singer, but actions like these are morally wrong and tactically stupid.

The oppressed (those in Europe in the 1930's and early 40's) have become the oppressors.

Shame on us for allowing the extremists among us to mimic our oppressors from years past. Since there appears to be no penalty for doing this, I suggest that we begin public flogging, maybe that will discourage these cowards.

Arabs wrote this, not Jews.
To Jews, this little known village is known exclusively as KUSRA (with a samech), only in Arabic is it spelled with a said, and transliterated with a tzadi. The writer was an Arab and this was not a price tag.

"Saad," not "said" - autocorrect.
The writing is literally on the wall, yet no one reads it. Mudra residents have a very good relationship with their Arab neighbors. Its actually an anomomly of coexistence, not shared much elsewhere in the country. The military started the whole thing by tipping up saplings by executive order, and when the Jews showed up to complain the army brought in the only 20 Arab locals they could encite to make it look like a confrontation. Even the Arabs expressed dismay at the army's behavior and cleaned their hands of the incident while displaying solidarity with their Jewish neighbors. The Jews of Kusra blame only the army and the actual, isolated violent Arabs that attacked them. There won't be any "revenge" against Arabs as that doesn't apply to the situation. And the writing was blatantly written by an Arab who transliterated from Arabic and doesn't know how Kusra is spelled in Hebrew. F***king crazy that this story got carried this far as legitimate "news."

What is the definition of "price tag attack?"
Posted by: Wigmore | January 15, 2014 at 11:49 AM
It's when cops, secret service agents or Arabs spray paint or torch buildings of Arabs and mark it with e words "price tag" to make it seem like a "retaliation" for violence or evacuation policies against settlers and then to collect insurance mony and/or arrest some settlers and/or reshape public image in light if (or leading up to) a major escalation in anti-zionist policy.
