Clearly this judge didn't get the memo....how about that!
Stopped 'em cold based on conflict of interest on the part of the mayor. This should embolden the people of Otisville, too, so that they vote down the sale of their abandoned school to the Satmar come referendum time. Maybe this is the high-water mark for the Hasidim in that part of the world so that now they'll recede back to their existing warrens in WB and Rockland and BP.

Unfortunately, wishful thinking. with their birthrate their numbers increase exponentially.

Looks like they didn't pay off this judge yet.

Is there a Yiddish version of the "Ten Commandments" (1956)? I just can't see Ramses saying this in Yiddish. LOL!

At some point there will have to be a crackdown on their welfare benefits and refusal to work gainfully which will put downward pressure on their numbers. That aside, at least this has shown that they can't just run roughshod over anyone they please. Let them move to some semi-abandoned place on the northern Great Plains and set up their own private Deseret the way the Mormons did in Utah.....oops....that would require (sharp intake of breath) manual labor!. Guess not, then. I have no idea what the answer is with them. Realistically the best solution would be to find some way to peel their young people away from the cults and educate them and make them into taxpayers. The young are a potential resource if channeled correctly.

The hardworking tax paying citizens of Bloomingburg have just been saved from having their village turned into an exclusionary garbage heap. Lucky for them they will not have to see existing buildings purchased in sweetheart deals, then illegally subdivided with the yards strewn with trash and dirty diapers. They are saved from having their school system hijacked with funds flowing freely to cheders and yeshivas while children in the public system are robbed of books and supplies. This is a good thing. Keep up the pressure and send a message that the village is not for sale.

This is temporary respite and looks like it is mostly based on improper zoning procedures (and conflict of interest by the mayor). The big problem will be when Lamm moves enough Satmars in to take over the town board and then do things in a more legal manner.
