Ashkenazi haredi leader Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Steinman collapsed early Thursday morning in his home and was rushed to Mayanei HaYeshua Hospital.
Mayanei HaYeshua Hospitalhospital, Yeshiva World reported.
Steinman, who is 99-years-old, had reportedly complained of feeling weak in the days preceding his collapse and had what haredi media is reporting as a “cold.”
Steinman is reportedly conscious and alert, and is undergoing testing.
People are asked to pray for Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib ben [the son of] Gittel Feiga.
Update 3:30 am CST – Steinman has reportedly reportedly released from the hospital with instructions from physicians to stay home and rest.
I can understand praying for him to have an easy transition to the next life, but I still can't get over their hysteria each time one of these guys approaches death - "May he live to be 120!"
They're children, frightened of being alone and without guidance. This is what comes of being raised in an environment in which independent thought is discouraged, if not forbidden outright.

I'd rather pray for him to not recover

Wow, and so soon after he succeeded the 101-year-old Elyashiv (who succeeded the 102-year-old Shach). It's almost like nature is telling them to stop picking the oldest guy in the room.

So they went from a 102 year old, to a 101 year old, to a 99 year old?
Is this their idea of a 'youth movement'?
