Haifa's Sefardi Chief Rabbi Shmuel Shaloush is reportedly being investigated for public corruption.

Haifa District prosecutors told Shaloush today that Israel’s Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein is “considering putting Rabbi Shalosh [sic] on corruption charges, subject to a hearing,” Arutz Sheva reported.

Both Haifa prosecutors and the State of Israel’s Prosecutor's Office have reportedly recommended that Rabbi Shaloush be prosecuted for fraud and breach of public trust.

Shaloush is also accused of abusing his position of authority.

if any state-granted monopoly had as many corrupt employees fleecing the public as the rabbinate does, they'd have lost their license long ago.

Let them start jailing the rabbis. Let them mix with the multitude of Palestinians in the jails. The rabbinate will be quick to clean up their act.
