Sefardi Haredi Beit Shemesh Mayor Runs Ad Depicting Non-Haredi Challenger Putting Haredi Kids Behind Barbed Wire
"Yes, it's a picture of charedi children behind barbed wire, i.e. using
imagery of a concentration camp. That's what charedim are presenting as
depicting Eli Cohen's aim!"
Moshe Abutbol (Shas)

Rabbi Natan Slifkin writes:
I didn't want to post any more about the Bet Shemesh elections, but then I saw this week's Chadash newspaper. Chadash was started by [Sefardi haredi Shas Party] Mayor [Moshe] Abutbol's spokesman, and solidly (and exclusively) supports him. This week, amongst the many pro-Abutbol and anti-[challenger Eli] Cohen ads was this monstrosity…
Yes, it's a picture of charedi children behind barbed wire, i.e. using imagery of a concentration camp. That's what charedim are presenting as depicting Eli Cohen's aim!…
[But] Eli Cohen isn't remotely anti-charedi.…

Politics as usual! It has a name - negative campaigning. We have the same sort of thing here in the US.

the recently announced nobel prize winners included 6 jews. they won or shared for medicine, chemistry and physics. they represent much of what is good in the jewish culture. secular education at the highest level with the goal of supporting ones self honestly and helping humanity . they make me proud to be part of the tribe.
charedim are a stain on the face of judaism and humanity. they represent the worst of what judaism can be. they embarrass me and anger me.
imagine how much knowledge and progress would have been lost had these 6 winners and all of the previous jewish nobel laureates been born into charedi families where their potential would have been wasted reading old myths and attacking others who dont as evil.

Nachum, read this and Rav Slifkin's article. It is a big deal because it's only one side doing it, and they aren't just dishing a little dirt. They've escalated to as bad as it gets - threatening opponents with death and declaring, in effect, that anyone who doesn't vote the Party Line is damned and cursed.

Well, I haven't said it for a while, so this would be an appropriate moment: fundamentalists have no sense of irony.
"imagine how much knowledge and progress would have been lost had these 6 winners and all of the previous jewish nobel laureates been born into charedi families where their potential would have been wasted reading old myths and attacking others who dont as evil."
Oh, but they'd all be going to gan eden instead of gehinnom! That's all that matters!
"charedim are a stain on the face of judaism and humanity. they represent the worst of what judaism can be. they embarrass me and anger me."
Completely agree. As I also keep saying, we now have two distinct religions. It's time to acknowledge it and move on.

Everything with these people is based on hysteria. They manipulate the simpleton followers with hysterical nonsense which works due to their total lack of independent thinking skills.
