A Monsey haredi rabbi has been been indicted on drug and weapons charges, the Journal News reported.
37-year-old Shlomo Ettlinger was reportedly charged with felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, which is a misdemeanor.
The charges stem from a police search of Ettlinger’s his home conducted on March 21. Police reportedly recovered more than one pound of marijuana, 370 grams of hashish oil, an unregistered .357-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, ammunition and $2,000 in cash.
Five other people were reportedly also arrested in the investigation and charged with lesser crimes.

I'm surprised they didn't tack a trafficking charge onto that.

Just noticed 370 grams of hash oil. That's 13oz
of hash oil. That's quite a bit.

What's the big deal? His drugs were medicinal. Much ado about nothing.

Very busy and discouraging week. We've seen Orthodox rabbis involved in or possessing:
Drugs
Guns
Torture
Extortion
Rape / Pederasty
Money laundering
Men of God? These were just the few that were caught. Imagine what else is festering out there in the Haredi communities.

I concur with you. The hypocrisy is numbing. There is so much going on in Monsey and NS alone that it make one wonder about being part of a religious community. It truly is disgraceful.

All of this demonstrates that the law of the land is viewed with contempt by the Ultra-orthodox. When caught, they scream anti-semitism. If tried, they point to any Jew testifying as a moser.
If they cannot live in this society, they should find a nice place in Siberia, move there and then lie, cheat and steal from one another and leave the rest of us out of it.

Meanwhile...six secular Jews were just awarded this year's Nobel Prize. What a contrast !

There will always be a difference between those who revere education and those who shun it. This is the perfect example.
