Wasn't it a previous requirement that stockings had to be flesh colored?

I hear them. Imagine someone walking around full clothed in transparent clothing would that be problematic?

If you choose to live in that backwards cult town, I can't say you deserve better - as said in Lethal Weapon 2..."sometimes you have to know when to say 'I don't give a fuck'"

However, the rabbonim in their infinate wisdom have not banned the long seam down the center back of the stockings favored by their princesses because IT TURNS THEM ON!

What if you want to wear the stocking over your head? Does it matter what color?

And this is "Psak Halacha" -- God commanded this when He gave the Torah!!!

As a Haredi Jew, I always found this to be one of the biggest ironies of following halacha.

Firstly, here in Europe, the term stockings refers to thigh high hosiery attached to garters, of the type favoured by hookers. So there goes the first unhelpful brain association when I see the word stockings in a psak halacha.

Secondly, I personally find the near transparent hosiery a real turn off, as it displays all the imperfections of the skin. I much prefer darker hosiery...as do almost all the women walking around in their miniskirts in my city. So in my case I find this halacha a real boost to my yetzer hora.

Incidentally I believe rabbi falk alludes to my feelings in his treasure trove of a lingerie omnibus. I mean his sefer on tzniut.

Reese...

The seamed hosiery favoured by the hasidim is of such a revolting shade of mottled brown it would be a challenge to turn anyone on. Bears very little resemblance to sexy seamed hosiery.

Do flesh colored stockings have anything to do with flesh eating bacteria?

Why are these Rabbi's looking at women's stocking's ?

Excellent question Moisheb. The Rabbis are our heroic leaders.

The Rabbis behind these proclamations are fearlessly fighting the Devil with their never ending lookout for potential pitfalls to the Nation's Spiritual health. Nothing is beneath their scrutiny. They must examine ladies' undergarments and leg coverings to make sure the Prince of Darkness has not made innocuous inroads in an attempt to stealthily elicit lustful thoughts from wandering eyes. What heroic efforts the rabbis demonstrate.

The only reason the stockings are even an issue is due to the unholy Goyim who produce these stockings. Goyim or Frei Jews have sick motivations, and don't realize that the women must be hidden and covered to prevent our holy men from being overwhelmed with lust.

I hear rumors, that in order to prove the utter contempt and disgust the Rabbis have for the despicable Goy, they will no longer accept any assistance from the Goy; not healthcare, not social programs or welfare dollars, not utility service, not police protection, not military protection. Nothing.

How can a Jew accept anything from a beast that creates natural colored stockings. The Jew is too holy to stoop so low.

Those damn internet posting, natural colored stocking making Gentiles are the problem with everything.

makes sense, :-) what about the sheitle then? if 'hair in a woman is 'erva, wouldn't be then equally 'presumed immodesty?'.

I'm with David - I thought the current regulation WAS flesh-colored.

Anyway, this new rule has problems:
1) Do the rabbis closely inspect the woman's flesh and then compare it to the stocking shade? How is he to do so while avoiding evil impulses? Is an MFA degree required of the rabbi to assure his ability to discern tiny shades of hue difference?
2) If flesh-colored is verboten, then are all other colors acceptable? Red? Green? Chartreuse?
3) If not, then which colors bring on men's evil impulses?
4) Reese's question is also apropos - do seams or the lack of seams bring on men's evil impulses? We must have a firm and final answer on this.

Apologies to Cole Porter (Anything Goes):

In olden days, flesh colored stocking
Weren't looked on as something shocking.
But now, Hashem knows,
Chumras explode.

Good rabbis too who once knew Torah words
Now only use Gemara words
Religious prose.
Anything goes.

YL, the next verse wrote itself:

Rabbis have gone mad today
And good’s bad today
And black’s white today
And day’s night today
When rabbis today
Hasids prize today
Do not like women’s hose
And though I’m not a Torah scholar
I won’t do anything for a dollar
What you propose
The emperor lacks clothes
