Haredi Uber Thief Eliyahu Weinstein To Plead The 5th

Despite signing a plea agreement requiring his testimony, Lakewood's own Eli Weinstein (pictured at right) is refusing to be deposed today. Weinstein stole tens of millions of dollars, a lot of of it from Orthodox and haredi Jews and then, while on bail, stole millions more from a non-Jewish family, nearly leaving it destitute.

It's going to trial, and I hope he spends the next 100 years in jail.

He agreed to plead - and testify to charges A, B and C. But if he testifies openly, the government will nail him on charges D, E and F (that were filed AFTER he agreed to plead guilty to the earlier charges).

I do not blame him, but I also think the government expected this, and has him so nailed to the shed that they don't care.
