Haredi Modesty Sign In Jerusalem’s Central Business District Sparks Fear, Outrage From Non-Haredim
The sign has caused skittish non-haredi neighbors to become even more
afraid that haredim are preparing to make a move to take control of the
area surrounding the hotel, just as they have in other formerly secular
or Zionist Orthodox neighborhoods near the CBD over the past two
decades, often by harassing non-haredi residents and businesses until
these non-haredi residents and business owners flee.
“Please enter in modest clothing. Thanks!”
Haredi Modesty Sign In Jerusalem’s Central Business District Sparks Fear, Outrage From Non-Haredim

A women's beauty salon in Jerusalem’s central business district has created a stir by posting a modesty sign on its front window, Ynet reported. The shop is located on Pines Street opposite Prima Palace Hotel – which has a largely haredi customer base.
Pines Street is located on the border between the haredi neighborhood of Geula and Jerusalem’s central business district. The salon sits in the northwestern tip of the CBD.
The sign has caused skittish non-haredi neighbors to become even more afraid that haredim are preparing to make a move to take control of the area surrounding the hotel, just as they have in other formerly secular or Zionist Orthodox neighborhoods near the CBD over the past two decades, often by harassing non-haredi residents and businesses until these non-haredi residents and business owners flee.
"I dress modestly, but not in a haredi style, and suddenly I find out that we are being given modesty instructions. Are they planning to bring the darkest [dressed] people here?" a Zionist Orthodox woman who lives near the salon told Ynet.
As long as freedom of speech is the democratic law in Israel, it is their right as the property owner to request that people come into their establishment in modest clothing. In as much as an upper class restaurant has that same right.

Wow, what a frightening, outrageous, offensive sign:
PLEASE ENTER IN MODEST CLOTHING. THANK YOU!

Moe –
There is freedom of speech in America, as well, but the sign is illegal in America for the same reason a store can't display a sign barring Blacks or Asians from entry.
Think about that.

"Wow, what a frightening, outrageous, offensive sign…"
Gevezener Chusid –
As you well know but refuse to admit (even to yourself), signs like that scare the hell out of people who lived through the hell of the Edison Theatre riots that went on for years and who are aware of what happens on Rehov Hanivi'im now.
You need mental health counseling.

Perhaps in other parts of town, they'll put up signs that say "Show us your tits."
That'll show 'em.

Shmarya -
Why is it racist for an upscale restaurant to request modest attire only? Or is it only racist for a Jew to request?

You just can't keep the haredi men away from pines.....
