Video: US Ambassador Dances At Haredi Fixer's Son's Wedding

Rabbi Matityahu Heshin, the so-called "Haredi Consul," is reportedly the direct link between many foreign embassies and haredi political and religious leaders, and through them to the haredi rank and file. US Ambassador Dan Shapiro recently danced with Heshin at Heshin's son's wedding. Here's video.

Shapiro should know better and politely declined the invitation.

A democratic politician should be as comfortable dancing at a segregated wedding and arranged marriage between two barely adults who hardly know each other as he would be if taking a vacation at a private golf course which refuses to accept women or racial minorities as members.

He should have also learned from Michael Dukakis to avoid silly headgear

I personally might decline it but I really cannot criticize the Ambassador for going.

Unless the guy was a criminal, it's no big deal. It's probably better to keep channels open.

Poor Mr. Shapiro. I bet his main goal is to make sure that another Arab-Israeli war does not break out on his watch. A war would certainly ruin his career. I don't think anyone in the know really expects a peace agreement between the Palestinians and Israel anytime soon. But everyone is going through the motions. There is a lot of foreign aid money at stake, for both sides.

As for the silly headgear, who really cares? The ambassador is not running for President.
