The ultimate sin for liberals -- judging.

Guy make sense.
Weiner is a prick.
Posted by: Jake | September 04, 2013 at 02:15 PM
I am a liberal, and I agree with the religious guy. Weiner is a POS.

Outcast Yid, when conservative Republicans get caught with their pants down, and are taken to task by the public, their chutzpah is exactly the same, so let's not make this a Democrat vs. Republican issue.
Posted by: WoolSilkCotton; I must be seen to be believed | September 04, 2013 at 02:25 PM
wow...what a take down of Weiner. Brilliant...
"on what authority can you judge me?"
"you are running for office"
Posted by: Eli, what me messiah? | September 04, 2013 at 02:30 PM
You know, you're right. Weiner is a very special piece of work. Neither Democrats nor Republicans typically complain that they're being judged. Not Clinton or Spizer, not Sanfoed or Vitter. I do recall Filner talking about a "lynch mob" mentality. But OK, I'll take it back. Besides, I need to ask my next question.
Posted by: Outcast Yid | September 04, 2013 at 02:31 PM
How is this fine yid a hasid or a haredi? To me, he looks -- and is more articulate than -- your average Orthodox Jew in Brooklyn.
Posted by: Outcast Yid | September 04, 2013 at 02:32 PM
Outcast Yid, the guy looks about 95% like I do.
I agree that he looks like an average guy, 'regular' Jewish, wearing a yarmulke.
In a kosher bakery in Boro Park? You'll find me there a couple of times a month.
Before I forget, let me wish everyone here all the very best for a Happy and Healthy New Year.

OMG! I know this guy -- Saul Kessler, according to USA Today. Grew up in Los Angeles. Haven't seen him in over 30 years. Orthodox, yes, but not any more haredi than he was in L.A.

Several points:
1. Since when is a clean shaven Jew in a black kippa and a polo shirt *hareidi*? He's just stam.
2. No comment on the outwardly religious Jew in a kippa and tzitzit using base language, resorting to name calling, and literally doing it behind his targets back being a disgrace? Its the very definition of a killul hashem.
3. Weiner exercised poor political judgment and lost his cool, but he *was* provoked. And like his in-your-face style or not - the frum guy was the one who shot his mouth off and started it. I would say, at least Weiner was man enough say his piece face-to-face and not throw childish insults from behind like a coward. The frum world deserves to be confronted when it behaves badly.
4. New York's voters can express their opinion of Weiner - and judge his decision to seek office following a scandal - at the polls. As for the rest of us, or anything having to do with his private life or marriage or the state of his soul, its erev rosh hashannah! Have we forgotten who the judge of the universe is?
5. Weiner disgraced himself when he was in Congress. I don't dispute it. But this? This wasn't a disgrace. This was just being human and losing his cool when attacked by a holier than thou frumie who wasn't living up to the standards set by the kippa and tzitzit he chose to don. At least Weiner isn't feigning a piety he doesn't posses and datim look bad by acting out.
5. I hope Weiner gets trounced at the polls.
Posted by: HavaMina | September 04, 2013 at 03:49 PM
"but it is erev rosh hashana, are you going to forgive him" What an orthodox douchebag.
Posted by: mimamakim84 | September 04, 2013 at 04:45 PM
He really is a piece of work. God only knows why she stays with him.
Posted by: Jeff | September 04, 2013 at 06:26 PM
The campaign released the longer clip that starts before this, and the guy first calls out scumbag and then says "You're married to an Arab," both to Weiner's back.
Posted by: Valhalla | September 04, 2013 at 08:24 PM
Weiner may be a tool, but this frumbag Kessler was way out of line insulting his wife. Kessler's lucky Weiner didn't deck him right on the spot.
What's more, Huma Abedin isn't an Arab; she's of Indian and Pakistani descent, and she was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Not that it would make any difference if she were in fact an Arab born in Baghdad.
All this incident is going to do is boost Weiner's standing in the polls. He won't win the primary, but he'll force a run-off.

Hey Shmarya,
Are you sure it wasn't staged? Politicians would do anything to gain few votes.
Considering the number of Arabs/Muslims in NYC, the choice they have looking at his rivals I bet he gained more for defending his choice of marrying an Arab woman and for exposing racism and bigotry of those his rivals count on, than have lost.

A Gutte Voche and a Gemar Sima Tova to All.
I am in total agreement with the bakery guy in the yarmulke.
I find Weiner to be utterly repugnant and despicable.
The vast majority of the exchange had to do with Weiner's disgusting PenisGate activities. The mention of his wife's ethnicity seemed to only occupy a moment early on.
Was it right to insult his wife's ethnicity? No.
However, when you campaign in one of NYC's many ethnic/religious neighborhoods, you have to deal with what the residents there consider important. When campaigning in one of Brooklyn's religious sections, Jewish candidates can expect to be taken to task if they married out of the faith. And 'Arabs' of any kind are not welcome.
Watch a professional politician deal with a difficult constituent. Did you see the meeting McCain had with people from the Syrian community the other day? Not exactly a warm reception, but he did not insult anyone or go 'in your face' with anyone, despite the crap they were dishing out.
Remember how Obama handled the original confrontation with Joe the Plumber. He kept his cool, did not raise his voice, and did not insult 'Joe'.
How did Ted Kennedy handle the anger of anti-bussing Bostonians in 1974? In interviews, he never said anything disparaging, despite all the invective hurled at him.

Professional entertainers, politicians and athletes know that you do NOT insult a constituent or an audience member or a fan, no matter what they are yelling at you.
Weiner is the political equivalent of Ron Artest.
