Haredi Women Running For Jerusalem City Council Reportedly Receive Threats From Haredi Modesty Thugs

Racheli Evenbaum, a haredi candidate for Jerusalem city council, recently announced that she was dropping out of the city council race after being threatened. Evenbaum was warned by haredi activists that she will be thrown out of her haredi community if she continues to run for office. Now Masada Porath, another city council candidate who also is haredi, is has now reportedly received threats, as well.

Racheli Evenbaum, a haredi candidate for Jerusalem city council, recently announced that she was dropping out of the city council race after being threatened, Yeshiva World reported. Evenbaum was warned by haredi activists that she will be thrown out of her haredi community if she continues to run for office.

Now Masada Porath, another city council candidate who also is haredi, is has now reportedly received threats, as well.

Haredi modesty activists and haredi modesty patrol thugs object to any woman running for or holding public office because they consider it to be immodest.

Porath is reportedly running on the new Ometz Lev women’s list. Evenbaum was running on the Zionist Orthodox HaBayit HaYehudi list.

Porath reportedly told the haredi Hebrew language news website Kikar Shabbat that is not intimidated by the threats. She also said that she has no plns to drop out of the race. She also claimed to have the support of several haredi rabbis, but refused to make their names public.

An Arab woman was supposed to run on the Ometz Lev list, as well, but was forced to drop out after her life was threatened by members of her own community due to her supposed lack of modesty demonstrated by her run for office.

As usual, police have made no arrests.

Not a fair comparison , there are many Arab women in politics, Knesset , local municipal councils etc, but not many Haredi women if any.
