Ynet reports Israel Police have reportedly told state prosecutors that Haifa's Chief Rabbi Shlomo Shlush, who also heads the state rabbinical courts in Northern Israel, should be prosecuted for bribery, fraud, breach of public trust, misuse of a public position and committing kosher food fraud.
Shlush allegedly received bribes. He also allegedly threatened food businesses with the revocation of their kosher certificates for reasons that are allegedly unrelated to halakha, Jewish law.
Shlush was also investigated in 2007 for allegedly taking bribes to do conversions and adoptions.

APC, It is actually written in different ways- Chelouche, Shelush. Shlush is kind of an Israeli/ Ashkenazi pronounciation of a Sephardic name. The most common spelling of it (in France, where the majority of Jews are Sephardic) is Chelouche (pronounced: Shell-oosh).

shameful, where is orthodox judaism heading?
from y.m. lau that pockets fat fees to officiate at weddings while employed and paid from the public purse & hopping from position to position. to metzger that equally benefits from his job and plans too to run for office again, to this shlush of haifa, to what was told about shear-yashuv cohen of haifa, to pinto to berland....

You know the answer of course is that nebach, they are privy to all sort of temptations.
But it's not all Orthodox leaders
and Rabbi's who fall to this temptations that is abuse of power.
But its quite alot. The question is, what the Charidishe system is doing pro-activley
rather than only teaching against Chilull Hashem, that does not seem to be a good strategy. I would say more than 1 Rabbi scandal in 5 years is too many and we see, Nebach, week in week out.

YBM, if its true about Rabbi Y.M. Lau, it is really unfortunate. I have seen videos of him and he seems like a decent guy.

The unfortunate degeneration of the rabbinate into a group of Levantine amulet and trinket hucksters known as "Frenks". Go ahead..... Chelouche, Pinto all your enablers- go tear the paroches and drag the Sefer Torah into a place of filth.
