Aide To French Chief Rabbi Abruptly Resigns Amid Scandal
Aide To French Chief Rabbi Abruptly Resigns
Shmarya Rosenberg • Failedmessiah.com
Rabbi Moché Lewin, the spokesman for the chief rabbi of France, abruptly resigned yesterday, the New York Times reports.
Lewin made no public statements about his resignation and did not comment on the ongoing plagiarism scandal involving Grand Rabbi Giles Bernheim, Chief Rabbi of France.
Lewin praised Bernheim for working to create “a Judaism of openness.”
Berhnehim has refused to resign even though he admitted committing plagiarism and lying about his academic qualifications.
Bernheim appeared on a national Jewish radio show Tuesday night and admitted to plagiarizing from many authors and to lying about his academic credentials. But Bernheim told his radio audience that to quit his job now would be an act of “vanity” and “desertion.”
The leaders of the roof body of the Jewish community have called on Bernheim to explain his plagiarism and his lies and his conduct in attempting to cover them up.
Bernheim has so far refused to do so.
Rabbi Bernheim just announced his resignation.

who in THIS country would ever write "roof body"? (I know its used by the aussie's but the author doesn't claim to be australian)
is this some bad google translation of a french article?

As I pointed out on a previous post, your English language skills are not up to snuff. Go buy yourself a good dictionary and study it.

umbrella organization is an idiom otherwise one might think it is an umbrella manufacturers group
Roof body too is an idiom. The French have some draconian language institute where new words that are approved need to have a french basis

Thanks Isa.
However, this is an English language site.
We should use American idioms cause Americans are generally boors and usually don't have any appreciation for cultures outside their own

Idiot.
These are American idioms. You are just too poorly educated and too dull to know them.

@SR
Prove it!
No American uses the term "roof body" and you used the term umbrella body in your other report on this ...
its not in your precious MW
and the OED only has " umbrella organization n. an organization which represents and protects separate member bodies." not "roof body"
Methinks you use google translate to often.

Get a good dictionary, idiot.

Hey SR,
The only reference that I see to the use of Roof Body is by those countries that use British English. For example, Canada and Australia. I see no use of the word by those who use American English.
What 'good' dictionary do you recommend, so that I can say you're right.

SR
I use the online OED (subscription only)
arguably the best dictionary there is.
What do you use the expurgated MW for short people who walk funny?
Or the abridged MW for people who like to put words into other people's mouths to suit their agenda?

Please. You have been wrong about EVERY word claim you have made.

@SR
dodging the issue are we?
How come in our adjacent/neighbor argument you could cite MW chapter and verse. Now all I hear is the faint sound of you trying to pull your foot out of your mouth.

Youre a moron. A real, honest to God moron.
Now lets be clear.
You were wrong on EVERY word definition argument before this one. You sockpuppetted not just once but SEVERAL times. You lie.
And now you are trying to lie again.
Your time here has just ended.

You unmitigated moronic ass, here are 62 separate instances where the Forward used roof body:
http://forward.com/search/?query=%2522roof+body%2522&x=0&y=0
You can find examples in the Times and in many other publications, as well.
Asshole.

How do you teach an idiot and idiom?
"Roof body" is an English language idiom just as is "blockhead," which is what used to be utilized to size wigs. Wigs were blasted with powder in the "powder room."
