Rabbi David Niederman heads the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg, the hasidic umbrella organization dominated by Niederman’s Satmar sect.

According to DNAinfo, at today’s annual NYPD pre-Passover security briefing for Jewish community leaders, Niederman demanded that NYPD Chief Ray Kelly explain why Julio Acevedo, the alleged driver of the borrowed BMW that ploughed into Nachman and Raizy Glauber’s livery cab killing them and their unborn child who was delivered by C-section but who did not survive, had not had his driver’s license taken away a few weeks earlier when he was stopped for drunk driving.

"He was caught before in drunken driving and now, unfortunately, he has killed. How can we strengthen that the justice system working with the police department that this guy should never had the ability to drive a car in public and kill such [a] wonderful family?,” Niederman asked, riling Kelly.

Later, Niederman asked reporters, "How is it possible a person like this walks the streets?"

DNAinfo notes that the NYPD makes drunk driving arrests but it does not control who gets released on bail and who does not get released, or whether a driver's license is suspended, revoked or left as is.

Perhaps because he killed a man who was believed to have killed at least 30 people. So he was convicted of manslaughter , not murder. Someone who commits 1st degree murder does not go to jail for 10 years, and you know it.

1) Why do Satmars get preferential admission to the government-supported projects in Williamsburg?
2) Why are the Satmars using all their tricks to prevent Puerto Ricans from renting in the projects?
Niederman should keep quiet because the authorities might ask one too many questions of the skullduggery of the Satmars.

Acevedo's previous convictions for violence are totally irrelevant. A speeding driver is no less dangerous whether he is a convicted murderer or Teitelbaum's chauffeur.

The NYPD is particular poor in enforcing speeding violations and failures to yield at junctions which are the main causes of traffic fatalities.

It is scandalous that cops handed out less than 4000 speeding tickets in 2011 for a city the size of NYC. If they followed European standards, at least 80,000 tickets would be issued.

It is pedestrians and cyclists who are at greater danger, not vehicle passengers so the Glaubers are the exception.

Street design plays an important part but this is expensive. There are lobbies who prefer that public funds be used for other purposes (eg providing property tax exemptions to religious institutions or section 8).

Your sarcasm is noted. I never claimed the judicial system is just. It isn't. It's rigged against the poor. Federal sentencing guidelines are also insane and are getting worse. Do I think Rubashkin should have been sentenced to 27 years? No, I don't. I think it was far too long. However the truth is that those convicted of 1st degree murder are sentenced to go away for a long time. That's the truth too.

We have a wacky legal system and it is being made up as they go along. You would think a convicted murderer caught driving drunk would have his liberties curtailed.

Suggest you find a way to tour some NY State Jails. I did about 20 years ago. I visited low, medium and high security prisons. The predominant pigmentation was dark.

Of course whites go to prison and Jews specialize in white collar crime.
But the racial composition in prison does not reflect the racial composition of society as a whole. As to minorities don't have the money to hire good private lawyers I have news for you few white criminals can afford a trial when paying $ 650 / per hour.

I'd be happy to live anywhere if I can't get a decent job, make that determination 100-fold when there are children to bathe, clothe, and feed.

Dark skinned people are routinely searched or frisked more frequently than their white counterparts, per capita; when found committing a crime they are more frequently arrested, per capita; and when charged they are more frequently sentenced and for longer durations, per capita, when compared with "caucasion" people suspected of, arrested for or charged with identical crimes.

None of that justifies the fact that a poor caucasion seeking afordable housing cannot get the same consideration for section 8 and projects as their darker-skinned counterparts. Is there, or is there not, a racial selection committee?

Please cite sources proving whites can't get Section 8 housing. Ever hear of New Square or KJ? Check the stats or Section 8 and welfare payments to both towns. Check the stats on Section 8 and welfare in NYS cities north of NYC.
