Hit And Run Driver Who Killed Hasidic Couple And Their Baby Had Killed Before

Years ago, Julio Acevedo shot and killed the notorious Brooklyn thug 50 Cent. At 3:15 in the morning on February 17, Acevedo was stopped in Brooklyn while driving a different BMW. He was reportedly red-eyed, unsteady on his feet and slurring his words. Five hours later, his Breathalyzer reading was .13, almost double the legal limit.

The New York Post reports:

The hit-and-run driver who killed a pregnant Williamsburg woman and her husband already had one murder under his belt — and was nabbed for drunken driving just two weeks before Sunday’s horrific crash, authorities said yesterday.

Police last night were hunting for Julio Acevedo, who did time for fatally shooting the original “50 Cent,” Brooklyn thug Kelvin Martin, the inspiration for rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s name.

Cops said Acevedo, 44, was behind the wheel of the speeding 2010 BMW that slammed into a livery cab carrying Nachman Glauber and his seven-months-pregnant wife, Raizel, to meet her doctor at a Brooklyn hospital at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Acevedo was identified by at least one witness, a person who claimed to have helped the man out of the mangled BMW before he fled, according to sources.

Acevedo had allegedly been going 60-plus mph, more than double the speed limit.

Williamsburg photographer Shimon Gifter told The Post he saw Acevedo return to the scene. Gifter said he took the man’s picture, which cops confirmed was him.

“It was absolutely freezing, and this guy was wearing a sweater, smoking a cigarette. He looked very nervous,” Gifter said. “He just looked at the crash and went back the same way he came, up Kent Avenue. He just disappeared.”

Police believe that Acevedo ran to the home of a friend and then left the area, sources said.…

The Glaubers, both 21-year-old Hasidic Jews, died at separate hospitals. Raizel, known as “Raizy,” stayed alive long enough for doctors to deliver her baby by C-section at Bellevue Hospital. Nachman died of head injuries at Beth Israel Medical Center.

The newborn died yesterday morning — on what would have been his mom’s birthday.…

Hasidic community leaders called for Acevedo to be charged with murder.

“The best thing for this coward is to charge him with triple homicide — and we are going to demand that,” Isaac Abraham, a Satmar hasid and sometimes politician told the Post.

Acevedo has a long criminal history that includes time in Attica prison for Martin’s 1987 murder, two drug possession arrests, robbery arrests, and an arrest for reckless endangerment.

At 3:15 in the morning on February 17, Acevedo was stopped in Brooklyn while driving a different BMW. He was reportedly red-eyed, unsteady on his feet and slurring his words.

Acevedo claimed he was coming from a baby shower at the Bed-Stuy neighborhood club Sugar Hill and had only two beers.

Reese, don't conflate intentional killing a murderous thug like 50 Cent with the accidental killing of the Glauber family. I suspect that the relatively light sentence that Mr. Acevedo received for the former killing was a reflection of societal value of removing 50 Cent from the gene pool.

Deremes, I do not know if Acevedo's licence was revoked at the time he was caught DUI.

If he had a valid licence than the judge was correct not to jail him for this offence.

The penalty for being double the limit is in practice, licence revocation and not imprisonment and the prosecution did not ask for imprisonment for that offence. The judge did not act improperly.

A certain proportion of those whose license is revoked will drive illegally. However before they can be imprisoned for that offence, they need to be caught. Sadly Acevedo was not caught driving with a revoked licence in the period between appearing before the judge and this tragic incident.

Rubashkin is a filthy unrepentant crook who stole millions, and ruined many people's lives. He deserves to stay in prison because he is still a threat to begin stealing again if he is ever let out.

Rubashkin is not the issue here.I said it before that i don't mean Rubashkin i meant white collar crime and the justice system stinks.

But in any case admire your honesty in not hiding your hate to frum people that you feel more safe with animals like Acevedo than with people like Rubashkin.

As far as i could remember as much as you hate frum people you always said that Lee ave is different than any frum shipping experience.Just admit you were cornered yesterday about your comments and you had no choice so you throw out that you were cheated on Lee ave but its not really true,is it?

NYS sentencing guidelines do not allow release of anyone convicted of 1st degree murder in 10-12 years. Federal sentencing guidelines for 1st degree murder are either death, or life without parole. Stop lying.

Deremes, both Rubashkin and Acevedo have served notice upon society that they are not fit to live amongst us. Each in their own way is a danger to the public, and must be kept in prison. I would not mind if both of them were kept in prison permanently.

On Lee Ave, I went to buy a kiddush cup. I picked one out and was standing on line to pay. In front of me was one of your friends, telling the clerk who was obviously a friend of his, that he did not have enough money to pay for the items he was purchasing.

The clerk laughed and said to him in Yiddish, while pointing to me, "don't worry, I will charge him the difference".

He spent eight (8) years in prison for murder!!!!! Good thing he did not pay ranchers late then he would have received a much harsher prison term and this young couple and child would still be alive today.

Horrible story, and believe me you are not the only one, in my school we have a few Rebbe’s holocaust survivors, who literally took pleasure in beating up young kids. It is more than 55 years since those days and I still vividly remember their faces, literally their front teeth were showing exactly like a wild dog. Bad memories.
