Haredi Modesty Squad Leaders Busted For Kidnapping, Assault, Other Crimes

Two haredi men were arrested today for allegedly leading a modesty squad that terrorized female residents of the haredi city of Beitar Illit in what police called "a reign or terror."
The two, both in their 30s, disliked what they called the women’s "immodest behavior" and are accused using extreme violence against the women – including beatings and kidnappings, Ynet reported.
They also attacked teens. In one case, they allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old boy, locking him in a room and beating him.
During the undercover investigation leading uo to the arrests, police discovered that the two were known to haredim in the city but haredim preferred to ignore what the modesty squad was doing rather than speak out against it or call police.
The men will be arraigned tomorrow in Rishon Lezion.
A police source reportedly said that more arrests are expected in the case.
In what may be a simple coincidence but in what could be a foreshadowing of what is to come, the National Fraud Unit of the Israel Police raided the Beitar Illit city government and confiscated computers.
According to Ynet, it is not yet clear whether the raid is connected to the modesty squad leaders.
It is about time. I was hoping that these pricks would be overcome by one of their victims and left bleeding and broken in the streets for all to see.

Maybe they should be drafting the haredi women instead of the men. That way, they could be taught to fight back and maybe even how to use birth control. Wouldn't that shake up the creepy haredi world? I seriously wonder how many women would return to their old lives.

Shmaryah is doing great service by publicising these cases. I hope that Israeli press and TV do the same.

Community members fear violent repercussions from "modesty" squad members, if they report them. Their identities are well-known. Police could stop them, if they want. However, law enforcement officials ignore internal charedi problems and issues. Until members of the modesty squad violate a state law or behave violently to outsiders, police will do nothing.

Nothing new under the sun, theese anthropod hassidim cannot sustain themselfs without violence just like the taliban they need to use terror to be able to subjugate their own otherwise they are nobodies.

Once I criticized jansci's spelling, because I thought he grew up in a charedi yeshiva. However, I was not malicious in my criticism.
Another commenter informed me that he and others are not native English speakers and come from other countries. When and if they are now resident in a English speaking country, they never learned proper grammar and spelling.
Don't be too critical of spelling and grammar errors. We already know the fault of the yeshiva system.
We should be interested in ideas, opinions, and facts NOT grammar and spelling.
GROW UP!

I took the liberty to grade your one sentence, I highlighted some of your selling mistakes, forget about your grammar punctuations and run-on sentence. At least jancsibacsi speaks and writes in five different languages, and English is probably his fifth, what is your excuse.

Kidnapping and assault are major felonies in most civilized countries. It will be interesting to see what happens to these creeps in Israel.
FYI in Massachusetts which is by most standards a fairly civilized place with, naturally, the usual few rotten spots the statute reads as follows:
"Kidnapping itself carries at least a penalty of a fine of up to $1,000 and state prison time of up to two years or jail time up to ten years, depending on the details of the case. If the charge is kidnapping that was done to extort money or other valuables, the penalty is prison for any amount of time up to a life sentence. For kidnapping where a gun was used, the penalty is a state prison term of at least ten years or a house of correction term for up to 2½ years. For a kidnapping conviction involving both a gun and extortion, the punishment is at least 20 years of state prison, up to a life sentence. For a kidnapping conviction that results in serious bodily injury to the person kidnapped, or if the person kidnapped was sexually assaulted, the punishment is at least 25 years in state prison. And for someone who kidnaps a child under age 16, the penalty is a state prison term of up to 15 years. "
So for kidnapping and beating a 17 year old the perp could be looking at 25+ in the state penitentiary. Let that be the yardstick against which any Israeli sentence is measured.

Take a look at this from YNET:
"The plot thickens in the Beitar Illit "modesty squad" affair: Mayor Meir Rubinstein is under investigation for allegedly knowing of the activities of the two suspected "modesty terrorists" in Beitar Illit.
In addition, inow it appears the two were employed by the municipality as youth councilors.
Following the arrest of the two Beitar Illit residents, both in their 30s, who allegedly terrorized female residents they deemed guilty of "unchaste behavior," the police summoned the mayor for an interrogation under warning.
He is suspected of fraud, breach of trust and obstructing a police investigation.
According to the allegations, the mayor was aware of the two youth councilors' activities and of their violence.
In addition the investigators suspect that the mayor tried to prevent the police from obtaining information relevant to the investigation.
The mayor was released following his interrogation. The two suspects will be brought for a remand hearing Tuesday morning in the Rishon Lezion Magistrates' Court."
