Business must be really bad for WalMart these days. I think the Hasidim ought to choose the Batman or Mommy Rachel, if they want to go in drag.

shmobagel

By the jewish high priest costume under the customer Q&A some one asked If the child is Tamei can he still where it?

Abracadabra

I know a kid who dressed up like this one Purim. He got the paiyos and fake streimel at a Judaica store, and he wore a bathrobe that looked surprisingly similar to the "Grand Rabbi's" robe!

A. Nuran

I like the Kohen Gadol costume...

Walmart sells a kid's costume with the hat and dreadlocks.

Does this Grand-Rabbi-Costume-Kit includes a game (something like “Monopolies”) to create money-laundering and/or tax fraud scheme?

Haredi dress is something not to be made fun of. Walmart should be ashamed of themselves for selling these items. It only plays into negative Jewish stereotypes.

Oh yes it is. Haredim dress like fucking idiots while they stomp around in their ridiculous uniforms which are supposed to signify how holy and elevated they want us to assume they are.

Walmart should be ashamed of themselves for selling these items. It only plays into negative Jewish stereotypes.

The Haredim themselves are a stereotype. One size fits all. Assholes who dress up like mobsters to assume that they're the only real Jews because of their stupid getups.

Yochanan Lavie

You can buy it without the peyos, and it becomes a "Dress Up Like a Polish Nobleman" costume.

Office of the Chief Rabbi

I saw the kohen gadol costume for sale in meah shearim. I saw the Sephardic chief rabbi costume for sale elsewhere in J"m. I've since regretted not buying it.

The streimel can hold a few iPad Minis I understand.

Baruch Shelo Asani Haredi

I was seriously trying to find one for a kid's Purim costume. Thanks for the tip.

DRESS UP AMERICA IS THE name of the importer ( which is really " toys for you store in bp"

Friar Yid

One year I dressed as a Hasid for Halloween. All it took was a fake beard and a Zorro hat from the costume store. I took the bolo string out and made peyos from electrical tape and threaded them through the bolo holes, then taped them to the crown of the hat. It actually worked quite well.

(Yes, I was a weird kid.)

ruthie

there's a huge walmart here in the monsey area.
i bet they got the idea from this walmart here.
i think it's great.
has to our walmart.
i wonder if they'll sell it in middle america?
wonder if it would sell there?
i think it's wonderful.

Yochanan Lavie

Friar: I was weird, too (still am, I guess). I dressed up like Harpo Marx. I took a blond fright wig, put a plastic costume crushed top hat on top of it, and wore my brother's overcoat.

You miss my point entirely, Haredi dress is not something to be made fun of by Gentiles. It only fosters anti-semitism. As a secular Jew, I do not want to be in any way associated with Haredim. Their cultural norms are a huge embarrassment.

thats hilarious!

Kalman

I don't get it. This is an adult costume and everyone is bent out of shape that no peyous and streimel is included. HELLO! What about a beard! What self respecting grand rabbi would be without a beard!

Jeff

You have to read the customer review on this one:

2. this costume DOES not foster anti-semitism. calm down.
3. cultural norms are not the embarrassment it's the way SOME, not all,
haredim MAKE it into an embarrassment.

I like that I'm able to finance my purchase.........

Runner, people dress up as nuns and priests all the time, so this isn't any different.

I agree with your comments!

Runner are you single?

Maya

Actually, this costume IS offensive, just as Native American and Pimp costumes continue to perpetuate racist, classist and bigoted stereotypes. Spirit Halloween and GrimReaper (the site from which this outfit originates) are full of horrible examples of cultural appropriation.

Like Runner, I'm secular and not at all fond of haredim but this only reinforces offensive jewish stereotypes.

Maya

It seems the Grand Rabbi costume is manufactured by Dress Up America, located in Brooklyn.
