Shas Co-Head Summoned To Beit Din Over Oslo Accords

A co-head of the Sefardi haredi Shas political party, Rabbi Aryeh Deri, has been reportedly summoned to appear before a beit din, Orthodox religious court, on charges that his support of the Oslo peace accord with the Palestinians led to terror attacks against Jews.
The suit was filed by Geula Hershkowitz, whose husband and son were murdered in a terror attack following the accords signing.
Hershkowitz alleges that more than 1,500 Israelis were killed and more than 14,000 injured in terror attacks and related conflict that she believes are directly linked to Oslo, Yeshiva World reported.
Member of Knesset Moshe Gafne of the Ashkenazi haredi United Torah Judaism party was sued in a similar beit din case last year. In Gafne’s case, the suit was based on his support for Israel’s disengagement from Gaza.
Hershkowitz wants the beit din to rule that Deri may no longer serve as a Member of Knesset – effectively blocking his return to Israel’s parliament after years spent in prison on public corruption charges.

The Jewish version of a frivolous lawsuit.

WTF cares about this kind of foolishness? The absurdity of it all astounds me - running to the graybeards for redress of something of this kind. Her losses are tragic however this is over the top. More of interest is that a history of corruption and imprisonment serves as no bar to being elected in Israel. Sounds like a story out of Providence, Rhode Island from the Buddy Cianci days.
