Mea Shearim Anti-Internet Rally Fizzles
"Perhaps due to the late hour on the short erev shabbos or
due to other factors, the number of participants was limited to a few
avreichim and children, who carried signs 'The Shechina is not driven
out – Here there are no computers or internet' regarding homes and
mosdos that are computer and internet free."
Yeshiva World reports:
As Klal Yisrael marked the beginning of the Shovavim with Parshas Shemos, in Meah Shearim, a rally against computers and the internet was held.Perhaps due to the late hour on the short erev shabbos or due to other factors, the number of participants was limited to a few avreichim and children, who carried signs “The Shechina is not driven out – Here there are no computers or internet” regarding homes and mosdos that are computer and internet free.

Reminds me of the anti-haredi rallies that we have here in the states. All poorly attended.

The reason it fizzled is that the Tweet that when out to alert them of the rally failed to transmit. :) Luke

i think i saw some of the protesters great-great grandparents in an old picture of a protest against the printing press and libraries. they'll have similar success.

APC That's what makes this so sad - Their ancestors did not protest against the printing press or libraries and Jews enthusiastically embraced the technology. Historically education and knowledge was prized among Jews. Even reading the Talmud it is obvious the Amoroim were very familiar with the science of their day similarly with the Rishonim and Acharonim
As other people have asked is this really true Judaism?

If 50% of the time spent protesting whatever was spent volunteer tutoring of math and reading to acheinu benei Yisrael some actual progress might be made.

youre being obtuse. the problem isnt a lack of tutors!!!!! there are plenty of great resources on the internet for any charedi who wants to learn any subject or teach their kids. and there are many filters which would keep it kosher. the problem is most charedim DONT WANT their kids learning ANYTHING except their version of torah. your attempt to constantly conflate the merits of both sides in all discussions about charedim, and to place blame with anyone other than these delusional and parasitic terrorists is mindless at best.

I'm not conflating nothing
