Chaim @ 9:01 "not sure why you are even debating"

Because I am right, Shmarya is wrong, Moshe is an idiot and 'king Sol' is the prince of Darkness.

The right thing was done

Before the Yeshiva Ohr Hameir closed down Moshe Pinter used to work there, as reported here in the summer.

2 weeks ago 3 bucherim approached him and told him that the Rosh Yeshiva Y.M. molested them.

He called the parents and informed them of the incidents, and recommended to send the kids for professional help, he also called the police to report the charges.

He then called the Rosh Yeshiva and told him that since he damaged these kids he should pay for their therapy, since the parents don't have the money to pay for a licensed therapist.

The boys were sent to licensed therapists for professional help to ensure they get the help in time and to minimize the damage that was done, the bills were paid by the Rosh Yeshiva Y.M.

The right thing was done, and there was no cover up.

Times are changing and the oilim is waking up, that we cant let molesters get away!

king Sol

Shmarye is guilty of hating jews

Moshe = Wrong

I am not sure why you are even debating the semantics of detained vs arrested, it is all moot.

NY Post: "Sources said the school leader was arrested and was being questioned at the 79th Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Charges were pending."

So.... Shmarya is guilty of reporting the fact before the NY Post confirmed it,,,,,,,,,

Thanks fir the update, Chaim. Innocent until proven guilty, but the fact tat he was arrested no longer appears to be in doubt.

TheRealJoe

Seems that school already had a story that even made it to VosIZneias.... last year...

"Other than posing an immediate threat to public safety or something like it, why should police be able to coercively detain anyone they haven't arrested?"

By definition, police cannot possible "detain" someone without "arresting."

They may or may not detain without filing charges - this is an issue of state law.

nebach

the rebbe arrested is yoyely malik and this has to do with moyshy pinter its a long story

Apple Juice

He worked at Ohr Hameir, a school for Satmar teens

Very rare to her of a Satmer involved in keiruv. They really don't believe in it.

dh

Argh. Like Jack Nicholson said in Terms of Endearment, "I was just inches from a clean getaway"

Shmarya

Sigh. Should have been "be detained."

You're right about the time factor.

dh

Either way, I win the argument due to your appalling use of the English language: " I don't think you can't get detained..."

dh

Different states have different time frames within which someone can be detained before charging. The Miranda Warning grew out of that very situation i.e. “custodial interrogation,”

Shmarya

Shmarya @ 7:12 " I don't think you can't get detained for questioning."

Of course you can

How?

Other than posing an immediate threat to public safety or something like it, why should police be able to coercively detain anyone they haven't arrested?

Could the Frankists be reestablishing themselves as a cult in Williamsburg? Perhaps the Awareness Center lady was right after all!!

It doesn't say "detained for questioning." It says "under investigation" and "is being questioned."

I'm told he was arrested.

There appear to be three complaining witnesses (i.e., victims who have come forward), and enough evidence to make an arrest.

At any rate, I don't think you can't get detained for questioning. You can either agree to be questioned or you can be arrested and questioned.

So cops either had an arrest warrant, had an emerging situation (crime in progress or close to being in progress), or he's there 'voluntarily.'

Police often 'encourage' a suspect they want to arrest to come with them for questioning. At some point during the questioning, the alleged criminal is arrested, unless cops think his alibis, etc. are credible. I.e., "I was in Mozambique that week. Here's my passport and airport security cam footage to prove it."

So if he is "detained" for questioning, he's been arrested.

Daily News Account as of 5 pm says only detained for questioning. Not arrested.

Shmarya, are you sure he was arrested?

Korbendallas72

And just think, right now these vipers and theives are trying trying to establish their own state in Bnei Brak. That's why Teitelbaum yemach shemo is meeting with his other mob boss rabbis in Israel.

'Kiruv' means bringing people closer, so he was just doing his job...

Kudos to Simcha

Well said....

Moshe Pinter

this story is connected to the Pinter story that broke back in June

Simcha

Williamsburg is a state of unrestrained corruption ruled by theifs like Moshe gabbai Freidman, or Hanoef womanizer Eliezer Kestenbaum who pursues women lecherously because he thinks he rules the world with stealing 10s of millions every year from the government via his ODA organisation or Hershel klar who lives off government subsidies while hoarding millions in bank accounts and investments on other names , Williamsburg should be known as a kleptocracy, literally a place that is "ruled by thieve leaders where corruption is the rule of law.
