Capturing the tone of the rally, in his speech the Belzer Rebbe reportedly attacked secular Israelis who want haredim to share the burden of military service.
"Here in the Holy Land, we're in exile among Israelis who act like goyim," he reportedly said.
Haredi leaders hope that they will win enough seats in Tuesday's election to be able to iforce the next coalition government to find a way to exempt all haredi yeshiva students from military service while at the same time maintaining government funding of haredi yeshivas and their students.

i don't know why haredi/chassidim exist. they are a physical eyesore , a permanent cancer for society and a danger for reg sec honest jews .

I suspect the yeshiva operators are more worried about the funding cutoff than their students being drafted. The students could do their hitch in the IDF and come back to yeshiva. What scares the beards is that the students won't come back.
Some will come back to yeshiva, and those will probably be the ones who make good rabbis.

The rabbi lives in fear of the yeshiva students being exposed to the real world and realizing that they have been fucked out of a life by these bottom feeders and leeches.
It serves them right, after years of building a cult identity that the people of Israel have finally told them that they have to be citizens. Work, pay tax and serve in the army. With any luck, they will be shaving their beards, learning secular subjects and telling their rabbis that they'll have to go begging before another shekel is deposited in the pushke.

good for him. and i see you like capitalism. here's an idea: if he has $48M and can earn a return of 5%, thats $2.4M a year. he can live off the $400,000 which leaves $2M a year. with that he can choose to support 100 kollel families at $20,000/year, AFTER they complete their army service for the defense of their country. THAT fits fine within capitalism and torah. OTOH shirking that responsibility while relying on taxpayers who care nothing for grown men reading old books is a corruption of both capitalism and halacha.

The Belzer is from the very few rabbis that embraced the internet and other useful educational tools. He also encourages his followers to earn a livelihood. If a guarantee can be given that religious boys will not go OTD while serving there fakakte zionist state, he would encourage that too.
