Head Of Leading Haredi Org Pays Friendly Visit To Accused Sex Offender, Jews Protest

Rabbi Padwa, the senior rabbi of Kedassia in London, paid a friendly visit to Rabbi Chaim Halpern and his father Rabbi Elchonon and showed his support for the accused sex offender. Padwa has heard details from several women who allege Halpern sexually took advantage of them during marriage counseling sessions. Meanwhile Jews – including other haredi rabbis staged a demonstration outside the building Sunday demanding that Halpern resign.

Ok, Shamrya, once again you've got this all wrong and clearly are simply repeating what little you've been told.

Firstly, the one on the right is another brother who came from NY for R' Elchonon's birthday which is on Chanukah.
This photo was taken at the Zos Chanuka Tisch on Saturday night that R' Elchonon always holds and is in his Beis Hamedrash, not R Chaims.

R Padwa was invited along by another brother and came to join R Elchonon. R Chaim happened to be there as well. R Padwa did not know R Chaim was going to be there.

R Padwa has never hidden the fact that in his opinion a Beis Din of foreign independent Rabbis is needed to hear this case as both he and all other Rabbis in London are biased to one side or the other. Until such a BD, R Chaim is innocent until proven guilty.

Re the alleged demonstration. It was supposed to happen the next night, on Sunday. The Rabbonim accusing R Chaim told their mispllelim not to go and in the end it never happened. Some people drove by or ambled up but then dispersed. There was no demonstration.

Elchonon Halpern is leading the campaign to reinstate his son.

Padwa in your words "didn't know" Chaim would be there which stretches credulity.

And the demonstration the next day was wasn't a demonstration because not enough people showed up according to you for it to count as one.

Here's what I think.

Padwa is doing what pretty much everyone thought he world – trying to whitewash the accusations against Chaim Halpern, accusations which he has already head, accusations which halakhicly he must judge as raglayim l'davar at the very least.

You can't grasp this basic halakhic fact because you're a shill for Padwa, a dishonest person covering for Padwa's misbehavior – and Halpern's.

An honest rabbi person would not have gone to Elchonon Halpern's or if he had been foolish enough to go, would have seen Chaim Halpern there, wished all a Happy Hanukkah, and left.

Shmarya, your reply again just proves you know absolutely nothing about the matter and in fact contradicts itself!

R Padwa is not trying to lead a whitewash. he has called for a unbiased BD and there is a letter from the Gavad of the Eida Chareidus of Jerusalem confirming this. Unfortunately because of a published letter from the Rabbis on the other side, it is proving difficult to find Rabbonim who are prepared to get sucked into a politial war. Had the GD letter not been published, the BD would be set up by now.

The part which you contradicted yourself is that you say that R Padwa should reliase there are raglayim l'dava but then also say earlier that R Elchanan is trying to re-instate his son (which isn't true, he has never called for that), admitting that R Padwa has not reinstated R Chaim! P Padwa presumably hasn't re-instated R Chaim as a Dayan because of your raglayim l'dava, but, under the premise of innocent until proven guilty which is the case around the world, he has no reason to snub R Chaim publicly like you say he should have.

Your point that R Padwa should not visit R Elchanan, thats again because you don't know the situation at all. R Elchanan is a great rabbi who almost single handedly built NW London frum Jewry. He is also the senior Rabbi in the UOHC, the organisation that R Padwa heads. R Padwa has come to many of R Elchanan's do's over the years and has great respect for him.
That R Elchanan might be misguided over this one matter can be excused simply because, as a 91 year old man who could well suffer a heart attack were he told, he has not been told the facts by the other side and has only heard one very biased side of the argument from his son(s).

With every post you prove your lack of knowledge about this case or London in general. Stick to the USA!

Just need to point this out:

The tickle blog has been at the forefront of this story from day one. This information had already been posted on the tickle blog way before Shmarya discovered it.

When the Times of Israel does a story on this, they will, of course, refrain from attributing this story to the tickle blog, even though they should.

Shmarya will, of course, call them on it. But then Shmarya will claim that they should attribute the story "to tickle and to Failed Messiah".

Which is ridiculous. Shmarya gets his information from the tickle blog, sometimes days late.

Dave, Shmarya is performing a vital service to US Jews in reporting (however incompletely) how morally corrupt Kedassia is in turning to Weiss and the Eida Hareidis so that any US Jew who is thinking of sending a daughter to a Hareidi UK Seminary is aware of the dangers involved.

Hopefully some UK Jews will be reminded of Weiss and Weingarten as reported on this blog, and how little Padwa is to be trusted.

R E Padwa is a spineless waste of space who inherited the post from his father and we are all suffering because of it.

News just in from Golders Green. Another massive demonstration planned for this Wednesday 8pm outside Divrei Chaim Synagogue demanding justice and for the accused to be removed and hounded out of London.

"Dave" - The notion of "Innocent until proven guilty" has nothing to do with Halachah. And it has nothing to do with how the general public should be thinking of someone accused of a crime, neither halachically nor secularly.

What "Innocent until proven guilty" means is that a court of law cannot find someone LEGALLY guilty, until it has been PROVEN in a court of law.

Meanwhile, the court and society should and does take every precaution to protect society from the accused. This is why some accused murderers are not allowed out on bail. No, they are not "guilty," however the court has decided that because of the nature of the crime(s) of which they are only ACCUSED, there is enough evidence (even before the court case) that the accused may be a danger to society, and thus they are denied bail. This is LEGAL, even under the idea of "Innocent until proven guilty."

What I find most interesting is that Chareidim are SO quick to use a Western Legal idea, while bashing and making forbidden use of those very courts in which this idea is followed in it's legal form. Hypocritical at the very least, but more so disingenuous. They just want an excuse, not caring about it's accuracy or source.

Let's get a few things straight. Padwa is far from an honest broker here. As a matter of fact I would argue that, in many ways, he is worse than Chaim Halpern, who is probably mentally ill, given his behaviour. Padwa was informed several times over the last decade, by highly credible therapists and his own rabbonim, that Chaim Halpern was molesting women he was counselling.

What did he do? Nothing. When he finally realised that the victims/their representatives were serious about acting, what did he do? He arranged for some of them and their businesses to be threatened. Furthermore, when a victim herself finally plucked up the courage to go and speak to Padwa, he refused to see her.

All the main Kedassia rabbis in Golders Green have gone to Padwa to beseech him to remove Chaim Halpern, but to no avail. Even when Dayan Ehrentreu was finally forced to intervene, Padwa begged for Halpern to be allowed to be kept on in Kedassia.

Padwa, who knows full well what Chaim Halpern has done, wrote a letter in support of Chaim Halpern, which he only suppressed on legal advice. He has also tolerated his rabbis in Stamford Hill, writing their own letter of support for Halpern (and directed against the Golders Green rabbis), in which Chaim Halpern is described as a 'gaon and tzadik'.

Just yesterday, another leading Kedassia rabbi, Dayan Dunner, had 'pashkevillen' condemning him plastered throughout Stamford Hill. What is the underlying motive for attacking him now? Because he opposes Chaim Halpern. Other Kedassia rabbis who have tried to remove Chaim Halpern from his position have been terrorised, in ways ranging from death threats to harassing phone calls.

Padwa knows all of this, and he knows that Chaim Halpern is guilty as hell (remember - the rabbonim involved know of over thirty women he has abused, and they have masses of evidence, including texts and pictures), but he would prefer to see the less important charedi rabbis vilified and attacked than to do what is right. Ephraim Padwa is a dangerous and deeply evil man.
