Mandatory army service will apply to all 18-year-old Israeli citizens

Does this include Israeli Arabs or are Arabs not allowed to be citizens.

I don't know why you keep falling for this. By next summer another deal or deferrment will occur and the situation will be unchanged

I can't think of a name yet

There will not be a mandatory Haredi draft. Period,

Israel is now in a ground war with Syria. Israel needs cannon fodder. Now, not years from now.

Because the charedim are uneducated and mostly physically and mentally unfit for the army an appropriate alternative must be found for them as they will be a drain upon military resources. This should involve work that is harder, more unpleasant and of a much longer duration than the draft would be (perhaps twice as long or even three times). They could be given an opportunity of slightly reduced service duration if they agreed to be educated.

Teach then a trade!
I got a free two year post high school training in Electronics
It will pay for itself when they become productive citizens

You need a basic education to be taught a trade which the charedim don't have, even assuming they wanted to learn and work.

When I proposed that they be educated I was thinking in terms of getting them to a level where they would be minimally functional for a very basic job.

The haredim won't be drafted because the Arabs won't be drafted. It's as simple as that.

Whoever hopes for a haredi draft is setting themselves up for a huge letdown.

With the number of good men who roll up the sleeves of their army fatigues to put on tefillin, there is no excuse for keeping any citizen of Israel out of the army.
