Belgian Government May Stop Funding Haredi School Over Refusal To Enroll Children Of Former Neturei Karta Leader

A Belz hasidic school in Belgium has refused to enroll students because their father is Moshe Aryeh Friedman – the notorious anti-Zionist and former Neturei Karta leader who met with Iran's genocidal president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Friedman has filed a formal complaint against the school and lawsuit, and the Belgian government is contemplating stopping all government funding of the school because it is trying to use minor children to hurt the children's father. "My children have nothing to do with my political views," Friedman reportedly said." If necessary, even drag me to the court of human rights [but enroll my children]."

I remember reading (unfortunately from Hamodia) many years ago that Friedman's son was also denied a minyan for a Bris mila in Belgium. As a man from Holland please allow me a small correction. In the article it says that Friedman is determined to go if necessary to the European court for human right in Strasbourg against the belgian government for not granting the children their minimum right to go immediately to school. This could result in grave consequences for the Belgian government since the children are Belgian citizens with Belgian nationality and they have their minimal human right to go to school of their choice.

I hope the courts enforce the children's Belgian and Torah right to an education. Even though in regards to chinuch, halacha prohibits punishing children for grievances against parents, charedi schools do it all the time.

I'm interested in the opinions of the FM reader community on the situation described in this article. Initialy, my position was kudos to the school for teaching that jewish turncoat a lesson in humility (i.e. what goes around comes around), on second thought, supporting this behavior provides private schools with a mandate to refuse children of parents that aren't "likeminded to the preferred ideals of the school" which can be used to refuse children of parents that don't follow ultra-othordox doctrine & report child abuse of any variation to the authoroties etc...
