A Haredi Neighborhood in Jerusalem
A House Of Prostitution That An Ex-Haredi Opened In Shmuel Hanavi Has Turned Into A Hit For The Sector's Marginal Youth.
Amichai Atali • Ma’ariv
An ex-haredi established a brothel in the heart of the Shmuel Hanavi neighborhood of Jerusalem, which has quickly become a hit among the sector's youth. Two years ago the first chapter in the story of M. was published in Maariv, then a haredi woman married and a mother to ten children. The husband wanted to work to support his children and in the framework of his job encountered A., a Palestinian from Nablus, and never imagined that his new friend would turn his life into a nightmare.
The husband, who was very occupied with his work, did not notice that A. became too close to his haredi wife. M. got so close to the Palestinian friend that at a certain stage she decided to leave home with him and seven of her children, and according to her husband's claims, made her income by transporting illegal Palestinians.
After a drawn out legal battle the couple divorced, and another legal struggle directed by the husband, with the assistance of lawyer Gila Naftalin of Jerusalem, led to the removal of the seven children from M. and their deposit in foster care.
However, it seems that M., who already crossed all boundaries accepted in the haredi society, decided to continue in her unconventional ways.
A Haven for Those Falling out of the Framework
A few months ago, after she had been living for quite a while with her Palestinian partner in Nablus, M. returned to reside in the house that belonged to her and her husband in the haredi neighborhood of Shmuel Hanavi in Jerusalem. Externally, M. appeared Haredi in every way, and despite her divorce she continued to wear a wig. However, soon rumors began spreading in the neighborhood, according to which the woman had turned [her home] into a social center for a group of male and female youths who had dropped out of the haredi society.
The group would meet nightly in M.'s apartment, and she would supply them with sexual services in exchange for payment.
"Suddenly all sorts of young riffraff, haredi boys and girls that dropped out of the framework," a haredi resident of the neighborhood told Maariv. "All the dropout girls and boys simply started to go to her house and have orgies. Within a short time two of the haredi girls became M.'s partners and began to serve as prostitutes themselves. The clientele at the apartment was diverse and included ex-haredim, haredi, Arab Israelis and illegal Palestinians."
The Haredi neighbors who understood what was going on nearby decided to hastily gouge out the filth that had sprung up under their noses. Customers that arrived at the apartment returned to their vehicles and found their tires slashed, and the tires of M.'s vehicle were also slashed many times.
When the neighbors saw that the tire-slashing was not helping, they started to hold shifts across from the apartment whose purpose was to prevent anyone not living in the vicinity to enter M.'s building.
The Neighborhood Was Coated In Pashkevilim
By now, two protests had been held adjacent to the apartment. The loaded subject caused the two protests to be especially stormy, and they both ended with the arrival of police to the area and with arrests.
Haredi rabbis then entered the picture as well, and the neighborhood was coated with pashkevilim [wall posters] which read:
"With great pain in our hearts we hereby cry out greatly over the evil murmurings that have reached our ears that amidst our holy neighborhood of Shmuel Hanavi a private home in a residential building has become a place of wanton lasciviousness that has destroyed many souls.” In the notice the rabbis warned: “The masses are hereby notified that it is forbidden by Da’at Torah [rabbinic instruction] and halakha [Jewish law] to come near the entrance of her house at all, and the parents shall carefully watch their children in order that they not find them in the middle of the lasciviousness."
"Never has it happened that those who have stopped being haredi bring their pernicious matters into a haredi neighborhood," a resident of the neighborhood said. "We intend to do everything in order to stop this abomination."
Are the mezuzot on the brothel doors kosher?

"Never has it happened that those who have stopped being haredi bring their pernicious matters into a haredi neighborhood,"
What, NEVER?

I hear they're charging more for anyone who is uncircumcised. The added pleasure costs extra.
I also hear those who never had metzitza bipeh will be charged more for the first time experience.

Apologies to the Animals (House of the Rising Sun):
There is a house in Mea Shearim
They call Arousing Fun
And it's been the ruin of many a bochur
And G-d I know I'm one
My mother was a tailor
She sewed black gaberdine
My father was a kollel man
Down in Mea Shearim
Now the only thing a mohel needs
Is a scapel and a young'un
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when metzitzah's done
Oy, Rebbe tell your Yidden
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in mirth and luxury
In the House of Arousing Fun
Nu, I got one foot on the platform
To board a Mehadrin train
I'm goin' back to Mea Shearim
For gefilte fish and chrayn
Well, there is a house in Mea Shearim
They call the Arousing Fun
And it's been the ruin of many a bochur
And G-d I know I'm one

Did it not occur to anyone to call the police?

The husband wanted to work to support his children
Impossible, Haredim don't work.

I'm sure most of the story is BS.
Here's what I suspect - she did something the rabbis didn't approve of and they invented the whole cock and bull story.
I'm sure people came to her house.
But to run a full prostitution ring in an Israeli apartment?
Nonsense. The police would have closed it down in a second.
This is a smear campaign against the woman.
She probably doesn't want to sell her apartment or some such nonsense.
Read under the story line.
When the Charedim are against something - there's some shmutz to be found.

Which is why I tend to agree with FM Fan, there has to be more to this story. A lot of this just does not add up.

You notice it all started because the husband decided to work:
"The husband wanted to work to support his children and in the framework of his job encountered A. . . .
The husband, who was very occupied with his work, did not notice that A. became too close to his haredi wife."
DO YOU FINALLY SEE THE DANGERS OF WORKING????!! You open up the door to acquaintance with non-Jews and become so focused on worldly responsibilities that you don't even see see their pernicious influence causing your own family and even your neighborhood to be destroyed under your nose!
(I mean this facetiously. This story is like the Reefer Madness of employment.)

Oh, in my comment above, I meant to boldface "wanted to work", "in the framework of his job", and "was very occupied with his work".

i'm sure most of the story is BS.
I tend to agree, The police will close it immediately if it causes problems, also brothels are usually financed, operated and protected by criminals enterprises and they for sure would not like their business gets this kind of publicity.
However, There was once a BDSM house operates in Paerdes-katz (next to Bnei Brak) where most of the clients were haredim.
In her memoir Whip Smart Melissa Febos writeS that large percentage if not most of her clients were Hassidim (which probably mean people with Haredi wardrobe)

Markfromshorthills: my sentiments exactly.
I have several questions:
As has been asked above, is there a mezuzah on the door? Do the ladies keep their wigs on? (after all, they're not with their husbands) Do they light the shabbos & Chanukah candles, and are they red candles? As we know, sex on Shabbat is a mitzvah. And must their clients wear shtreimels on Shabbat?
Is oral sex banned on fasting holidays?
Do they give tzedakah sex to the poor?
Inquiring minds want to know.

A house of prostitution in a charedi neighborhood and on Shmeul HaNavi is old news. So is the congregating of young people going OTD at the house of a formerly frum person.
The charedi mind equates socialization of the sexes with sex acts even if people discuss world events.
Give the women credit for finding an income in the world's oldest profession.

Very, very sad that prostitution is a not so well kept secret in Israel. It is increasing and proliferating. I know that there have been many chasisidm who have been patrons and even of of one unsuspecting ultra who met his daughter in a brothel. This man later committed suicide. The whole epoisode is not to be mocked at all.
Posted by: zionist goy | November 09, 2012 at 02:20 PM
This is a typical response from charedim to anyone who goes OTD - they immediately think that everyone is immediately having lots of sex with just about anyone. Great orgies, in fact! How juvenile. I agree with the previous posters who don't believe this story.

And where were these facilities for when i was a young haredi?
Damn! I missed out.
One day i will be free to tell my life story to those interested.

Oh, and great work YL.
I've always wanted to do such a parody, but couldn't. You are a truly talented songwriter.

Yeah, I'm calling shenanigans too. Sounds like delusional rabbinic nonsense.
Jonesing for Jesus, just Don't Tell the Jews Zionist Gobshite - Shut your fool mouth.
I'm hoping you're a troll, because I can't bear the fact that someone so damaged exists.
As I asked you the other day - if you're such an awesome Zionist, and such a fan of the Yidden, why not convert?
As for your bullshit about the poor Haredi guy allegedly driven to alleged suicide because he allegedly saw his alleged daughter working in an alleged brothel? Why the FUCK was he visiting a fucking BROTHEL if he's so "ultra"? Ultra what? Ultra scummy. Ultra-cheating-bastard?
Oh waaiiit... let me guess... he was doing kiruv! Laying tefillin on the poor, tempted haredim, encouraging them to do teshuva al pi Toyrehhhh!
All makes sense now. thank you for your wisdom, you're a true gadol ha goy, aren't ya?
Shoteh.

Wow, this "palestinian friend" must be a true lowlife. Takes away the wife of his colleague, in order to send her to prostitution!
what a sad, sad story! Really sad. Nothing to laugh about.
Posted by: soso | November 11, 2012 at 03:35 AM
The more recent update on this story puts the kibosh on the accusations. Evidently, anyone who goes OTD and refuses to leave the community is fair game for slander and harassment.

House of the Rising Sun is a traditional song. No need to credit The Animals.
