Video: Haredi Rabbi Blames Hurricane Sandy On Gay Marriage
A haredi rabbi, Rabbi Noson Leiter - who claims to be representing what he was told by other, more senior haredi rabbis – has blamed the devastation of Hurricane Sandy on gay marriage and homosexuality – and he did so on tape yesterday while millions of Americans were suffering without power, heat, water and food.

Anyone is entitled to have an opinion and to express it. Even if they are an ignoramus.

Well, if that holds true, then the Lord has plenty to answer for in the ICC; isn't collective punishment a crime against humanity?
A rainbow occurred around the time of a storm, it must be a sign from God, there can be no other explanation.
Given the choice of climate change or homosexuality, it sounds like they both have scientific credence, what can I say?

Great! Now we Jews finally have someone to compete with Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell!
For the cretin of the year award anyway....
p.s. So what did God punish us for last year with the bumper harvest?

G-d promised not do this very thing in the torah after the flood.
Nature is unbiased, does not kill people who “had it coming to them” and does not destroy cities for embracing homosexuality.
Posted by: Realist Jew | October 31, 2012 at 04:12 PM
Just because Hashem promised he wouldn't destroy the world again didn't mean he wouldn't let us do it ourselves.

sandy is a punishment for the sexual abuse that occurs within the jewish community and is then covered up or swept under the rug. that is the only reason why sandy (or rather sender-yes, she's transgendered) wreaked havoc in the northeast...
tell the Jewish community to stop protecting child molesters and to start accepting gay/lesbian/transgendered people.

Gee, and I thought Lower Manhattan was flooded to punish the Wall Street ganeivim. Silly me!
Reminds me of those who claimed that Katrina happened to punish the gays, when in fact the gay-centric neighborhoods were among the few areas spared. LOL
Posted by: MM | October 31, 2012 at 04:28 PM
Hashem created a world with weather and climate patterns. I would like to see Leiter peddle his bs in hard-hit Woodmere LI!
Posted by: spacedout BT | October 31, 2012 at 04:37 PM
I'd like to point out that Satmar had a few neighborhoods destroyed while the Jewish community at large fared about as well as anyone else.

Unlike this idiot Pat Robertson actually has the integrity to warn about disaster BEFORE it happened.

Bassi - my response is the same whether Clown Robertson says it before or after. My response consists of 4-, 7-, and 11-letter words.
Posted by: Sarek | October 31, 2012 at 05:10 PM
And, then again, maybe God sent a double rainbow to communicate his support of gay marriage! (Then again, maybe we're just talkin' climate change Rabbi Bozo!)
A good thing to listen to in relation to creeps like this is Roy Zimmerman's song, "Jerry Falwell's God."

I believe that the Rabbi is very much in the wrong. Gay marraige is only ONE of the reasons to incur the wrath of Hashem. He is on the right track, just needs to be broader in the list of outrages. Anyways, too bad that most liberal, reform, or Jews of that persuasion relegate accounts of Sodom and Gemorrah to mythologies.

In any case, you're certainly an idiot.

Meanwhile, it was just another temperate day in San Francisco. Go figure.
And here in Massachusetts, where we've had same-sex marriage for about eight years, we had comparatively little damage, and virtually none in Boston.
Maybe God's aim is getting worse as he gets older.

zionist goy-I think the cause of our misery with sandy and otd s and i also think that those hassidim and rebbeleh who masturbate to nakede woman are also big contributors to alot of misfortune that befel our tayere kinderleh in the past few years

Sounds like i hit a nerve, Jeff. Tell me. Are you a gay man? There you go again, as ronnie Reagan said in debate... If you find it comforting to pigeonhole, call me a liar, an evangelical, WRONG. I have been active in attending support and protest gatherings after acts of anti semitism. guilty as charged.

Operative word is "goy".

I think Bessy might be on to something. Clearly, this is sports related. This is vengeance for the Yankees losing. Or because the Jets don't play Tim Tebow enough. Or to curse the Jets for having signed him in the first place. Or for the Nets moving from New Jersey to Brooklyn (New Jersery was hit hard and the Nets game is postponed). Or because of the NHL strike (and the Islanders are moving to Brooklyn). Or maybe Someone didn't get good seats for the Barbra Streisand concert.....

Sandy was the product of god's retribution for my sexual expression with my vacuum cleaner. Alas, had I not set suction on high, we would have been smitten only with a mild hailstorm.
Next time I'll use the lower setting to spare you all from similar devastation.

He actually makes a lot of sense. It's just like after the Great Flood when Noah told all the survivors why the Lord had punished them and...oh wait...he warned them before the flood...scratch that - never mind...
Posted by: Vadim | November 01, 2012 at 12:02 AM
I blame Haredi's subjugating and treating woman like second class citizens and property for the hurricane. Sounds ignorant right? Just leveling with them.
Posted by: sadisticstevestrong | November 01, 2012 at 12:12 AM
You people have it all wrong. He's right.
Because gay marriage isn't allowed in many states, potential spouses must travel long distances to become legally bound.
This generates carbon emissions, especially since the average gay marriage will have as many happy participants as the number of haredim that Leiter could draw to a child molester's fundraiser in Brooklyn.
Carbon emissions contribute to global warming, and it to hurricane frequency and intensity.
Violà! C'est simple!

Even Pat Robertson had the good sense to keep quiet this time around.
This is a good example of what frum people get away with saying in "polite company" (i.e. amongst themselves), which would be completely off the map if said in public.
The only good thing about this being said in public (I realize I'm grasping here) is that maybe frum folks will start to think twice about blurting out such statements - even in private. As I've said before though, I'm not holding my breath.

Poor Zionist Goy, who yet again, wanks on and on about his love of Jews...
It's hilarious. "If we get them all back to Israel, then Jebus will return, and he'll smite the ones who refuse to convert!"
Meanwhile, his "friends" are thinking "Oy, Moshiach now, so that we rule the world, make the likes of this schmuck our slaves, and have a kick-arse party in J-lem!"
followed by:
"Shit. Did he just touch that bottle of Mountain Dew? Ugh. Get another one out, and tell him to keep that treif one for himself. How dare he put his verschtinkene hands on our sacramental nectar"
Ah, you've got to love delusional godbotherers of all stripes. They are an endless fount of pure comedy, especially when they're playing nice with the "opposition" and being all "interfaith"y, solely to bring about their own idea of Armageddon.
ZG- Do you go on those Jebus-freak trips to Israel, to plant trees?

Gefilte--
What caused the Ten Plagues before the Exodus from Egypt?
Answer: All of the forces of nature are merely tools in the hands of the wood chopper; he uses them when and where he deems them necessary.
Rainbows may have existed before the flood as well. He then assigned it as a sign of the covenant he made with the bnai Noach.
