After these knuckle-draggers impose those dopey internet obstructions on their compliant automatons, can unannounced home inspections be far behind? And I don't mean just internet concerns. They'll soon be demanding a yearly shatnes inspection for clothes and refrigerator check for chalav yisroel. And when a 17 year old chareidi girl becomes engaged, a trip to the rebbetzin with a newly installed gynecologist's chair will become mandatory to ascertain virginity.
God wouldn't want it any other way
Posted by: Abe | September 12, 2012 at 08:34 PM
There is literally no limit to the willingness of the haredi to subject themselves to abasement by their rabbis.
The interesting question is, what about a person whose parnossa requires him to use the Internet because he sells pornography? Will the Vaad approve his internet connection?
Posted by: MarkfromShortHills | September 12, 2012 at 08:40 PM
Rebbitzman It may be their school but the way restrictions/chumras spread in chareidi circles the issue is that this will become the new norm for entry into chareidi then RWMO schools

The government regulates food stamps (or whatever they're called today) . It won't allow them to be used for liquor. So why can't the government make welfare conditional so that it's funds cannot be used to pay for any academic plan that did not also include secular education according to public school standards as well as other benefits of the Constitution, such as the implicit right to privacy?
The Amish family, Yoder, is to be thanked for obtaining for us the right to educate our children ourselves, at home if we want. But they don't take federal funds.
Rebitzman said 'their school - their rules ' and I understand the veracity of that. But is it really their school when it's being paid for largely by people with a lifestyle of government (meaning us) subsidy?

Was there ever any doubt that the whole purpose of the internet asifa was to gain more control over the sheep?
Posted by: Shragi Getzel | September 12, 2012 at 09:04 PM
Hasidics are so ignorant, the men would allow the Rabbis to sleep with thier wives and daughters.... even father their children, as long as the rabbi says so. What an illiterate group of people. Lack of education and information is the only way to control their people. This why they are taking away education from ERCSD......they want to control that community as well. Evil bastards!!!! Its a shame they are manipulating people all in the name of religion.
Posted by: Babs | September 12, 2012 at 09:08 PM
Gain more control? Yes
But more to the point to maintain control in the face of freedom
Posted by: A. Nuran | September 12, 2012 at 09:09 PM
@dh
As there is no Constitutional right to have unfettered access to the Internet....... No. IF the school can maintain educational standards (and I don't see how an unwired can hope to do that), their school - their rules.
That said, I know people with children who attend there that have the Internet at home - and have no intention of giving it up. I see this whole thing as grand standing.
Posted by: Rebitzman | September 12, 2012 at 09:10 PM
Private schools can set any standards they choose that aren't illegal. Folks can send their kids to other schools if they so choose.

Not true, you cannot yell fire in a movie theatre. If they take even one dollar from the taxpayers they lose all rights as a private enterprise. This activity must be declared as illegal and the entire administration should be hauled off to jail!
Posted by: George | September 12, 2012 at 09:43 PM
Rebitzman, I'm not speaking to unfettered internet or even fettered internet. I'm talking privacy rights that should not be restricted en masse on my taxpaying dollar.
Those people you know of who will not give up the internet, will they be untruthful or merely forebear from returning the signed form?

Actually IT can monitor Internet usage and everything is logged
Visits to inappropriate Web sites will get you fired. Now maybe one time multi second accidental visit to some porn site will get ignored. Anything other than that a worker will find themselves booted out of the door.

>Their school - their rules.
Parents don't have choices - the way out of the community is made to come with a terrible price. And if you don't conform within it, you can be crushed. So it's a little more complicated than "their school, their rules."

"As there is no Constitutional right to have unfettered access to the Internet..."
Actually,... Yes. By the Freedom of speech article (the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas, etc, etc,..). The term, though, is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
...And this was what the argumentative groups opposed to SOPA, CISPA, PIPA, et al used to defeat these net restriction bills.
That said!,... You are 100% correct, that being a, US Private School, they have the right to demand that Computers, Laptops, Smartphones and Tablets be filtered, on their school grounds.
...But (of course)..., they have no standing Law rights to demand that:
*That people must obtain a "Technology Ishur" prior to bringing your own BYOD Laptops, Smartphones and Tablets on school grounds (there are laws for many devices to do so, a.k.a. guns, but not Tech devices so far).
*That people must pay to obtain a "Technology Ishur" (to add insult upon injury).
*That their BYOD Laptops, Smartphones and Tablets brought to school continue to be unfiltered after they leave the school grounds.
...And those were the parts on the questionnaire about Tech devices on school grounds. Now they went a little further out their school's range by:
*Demanding that parents' work computers at their (Jew or Goyim) workplace be filtered by Vaad.
*Demanding that parents' cellphones not to be connoted to the internet even with filters.
*And threatening the daughters of non-complain with expulsion.
..That was the main page. Now they got a little nosier with the rest of the questioner, specially since it did not involve the rules on their Private School grounds anymore:
At home:
*"Do you own a computer/laptop?."
*"Is it filtered?. If not, provide information to us on the reason for not doing so, and prepare the appropriate paperwork to get our approval."
*"Was it installed by a technician or the Vaad?."
*"Do you own a Tablet?."
*"Is it filtered?. If not, provide information to us on the reason for not doing so, and prepare the appropriate paperwork to get our approval."
*"Do you own a Game Boy/PSP/Xbox/Nintendo WII/Sony Playstation?." (the frack does this have to do with internet rules on Bais Rochel School for Girls' grounds?).
At work(!):
*"Do you have internet access at your, or your employers, workplace?."
*"Name of your, or your employers, business."
*"Cable?, DSL?, are you (they) filtered?."
*"Was it installed by a technician or the Vaad?."
*"Did you installed a filter on your computer?."
*"If you are the owner of the business, why didn't you install a filter?." (Woah, Chutzpah much?).
*Parent's private cellphone:
*"Is it filtered?. If not, provide information to us on the reason for not doing so, and prepare the appropriate paperwork to get our approval."
*"If its filtered, How?, How?, How?." (it's like that in the form =P ).
Woah. And that's page two. I think we left the "It's they right" argument somewhere near Damascus. Onwards to page three (maybe it will again pertinent questions related to internet matters regarding Bais Rochel School for Girls?):
Private business:
*"What's you business?."
*"Why do you need internet access at your home business?."
*"If unfiltered, why do you need open internet access at your home business?."
*"Cable?, DSL?, WIFI?. Are you filtered?."
*"Was it installed by a technician or the Vaad?."
*"Did you installed a filter on your computer?."
*"If monitored, what company keeps logs of your internet activities?."
*"Do you use a business cellphone?."
*"Did you installed a filter on it?."
*"If monitored, what company keeps logs of your internet activities?."
Hmm. Let's just get this over with. Page four:
Internet guidelines:
*Rabbi Moshe Green's va'ad and Bais Rochel School for Girls' rules concerning the schools, and your personal, free choice outside its grounds, internet policies: "You will block everything as told by us, you will get a permission to use your device here, at home or work, you will pay to get this permission, and you will be castigated if you don't comply with us."
*sigh*
Their school - their rules" bit was only 7 paragraphs long on the form before it became Das Rav's own Sicherheitsdienst des Reichsführers-SS.

So? You are working for an international bank or pharma group, and they will allow the guys from the vaad to check your worplace-computer's internet access? I don't think so....
Posted by: soso | September 13, 2012 at 04:40 AM
This is beyond moronic and idiotic. It could very well extend into criminal extortion. Moshe Green's right hand man and driver is active in the Monsey vaad hatznius. (his name escapes me at the moment and is buried in my files). The permissions include monitoring where your password is shared with k-9. So if the vaad gets information it will use it for extortion and in the case of Weberman in Williamsburg to sexually assault children. Weberman did occasionally work the Monsey (and KJ) vaad hatznius. So we have authentic full fledged mafia/scientology style control of lives. Meanwhile, Moshe Green goes on, almost alone defending Yisroel Moshe Weingarten, who is serving a 25 year sentence for dragging his daughter around the world to sexually abuse her. I only hope his yeshiva goes under and disappears or parents rebel. Sadly this cultish control will probably become a new normal. ARGH!

Who are the tech people who are corroborating with the vaads to crush the people's access?
Posted by: BHB | September 13, 2012 at 07:48 AM
This is getting more personal. I was sent to one of these prisons for children. I hated every minute of it. The first day of 4rth grade I hid in the closet with one of my friends. We had to wear uniforms, were told no to everything that was fun, and in general suffered severe psychological damage at the behest of mean fat old women.
Children need to develop emotionally and that includes their sexual development. They should learn to play with each other. From play as children, and who is kidding, they must learn to co-mingle properly, they grow into adults. Not like magic, it is called human development, a slow "EVOLUTIONARY" process. To separate the sexes during any stage of human development, especially youth, causes them severe psychological damage.
Next, they need to learn math and science. These subjects are forbidden because they disprove the existence of G_d. Sorry guys, Yhwh is a 14thc BC pre-Canaanite deity, the son of El, and torch-bearer with Baal. Ahh, that felt good, after years of repression, to let it out, to tell the truth, all religions are based in Paganism, yes, modern religions, including Judaism, and especially Christianity and Islam, are just Pagan cults.
The internet, essential for business, and higher education. We, the people, are not going to be repressed by those who were not smart enough to earn money, or study mathematics. Ok, the Bais Rochel is just little girls, they should be protected on the internet, but uhhh, yahhh, yuck, little girls learn to like little boys, and if they don't fantasize on the internet, you will find little girls and boys in the woods behind camp scruffy.
Finally, after years of not telling of the torcher, a chance to avenge my sufferings.

What I want to know was WHEN the school sent this form out. If it sent it out last June or July or even earlier, I don't have any problem with it. It's "their school their rules," and the parents who disagree, can find another school. It would NOT an easy decision, but at least one for which there would be time.
If this form arrived last week or this week, it's simply coercion, and teaches a wonderful lesson in hypocrisy. It's a lot harder to switch schools once the year has started. It's also hard for kids and parents to live a lie, and kind of defeats the value of a religious education.
Posted by: EileenK | September 13, 2012 at 08:28 AM
So, I have to block the internet, not own a TV, radio, or gaming system. I have to dress in a shitty black suit with white shirt and doofus shoes. I have to allow some shitbag rabbi to sniff my wife's panties once a month. I have to wear all of their uniform on a sweltering hot day along with gigantic hat with kippa underneath. I have to grow my beard and not trim it neatly. If Hassidic, I need to wear a stupid hairstyle with my sideburns grown to ridiculous lengths. All of this for two reasons: a) to satisfy the whims of an omniscient being who is said to create all of us? b) to allow my children to attend schools that indoctrinate them into the lifestyle that I have just described.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Posted by: Alter Kocker | September 13, 2012 at 08:40 AM
For years, Monsey schools have had policies (with parents required to sign affidavits) regarding TV use, movies, etc.
It is widely known, even by the yeshivas, that parents blatantly lie and sign whatever is required to get their kids into school.
Further, many boys high schools require the boys and parents to sign a form that the boys don't smoke. And, yet, the school ignores the fact that the boys smoke on the school itself (along with the Rabbeim).
These types of policies are to make the schools look "frum". Nothing more.

Early training that lying is encouraged and rules don't apply. They'll never have a problem getting good parking.
Posted by: dh | September 13, 2012 at 11:17 AM
Abe is right. If your kid goes to their school, then they say they gain the right to control your life. I guess the burning bush told them to do that.
99.9% of people would tell them to commit a biologically impossible act, but I presume that anyone who sends their kids to those schools would be ok with this.
