Wild Ride: Drunk Skvere Hasid Steals Garbage Truck, Hits School Bus

A 23-year-old hasid from the hasidic village of New Square, New York got drunk and stole a garbage truck in the village during the early hours of Tuesday morning. He struck an empty school bus shortly after and fled the scene, still driving the garbage truck.

A 23-year-old hasid from the hasidic village of New Square, New York reportedly got drunk and stole a garbage truck in the village during the early hours of Tuesday morning. He struck an empty school bus shortly after and fled the scene, still driving the garbage truck.

Police reportedly found the drunken alleged thief, Chaim Surkis, in nearby New Hempstead where the garbage truck had become stuck on a resident’s lawn.

Police arrested Surkis and reportedly charged him with two felonies – second-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of stolen property – and three misdemeanors – two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief; attempted fourth-degree criminal mischief; driving while intoxicated; and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Before his arrest early this morning, Surkis also had an outstanding arrest warrant in neighboring Ramapo.

He is in custody awaiting arraignment.

I guess that this is what happens when:

1) You "learn" Toyreh all day every day but still don't understand one of the most basic precepts of "do not steal" (yes, I know the frumma say this refers to kidnapping, not theft which they seem to think is OK).

2) You don't have any outlet for doing any normal and legal fun things.

Hello troll. I will not comment on the arson/attempted murder case because it has been extensively discussed here.

I doubt the Rebbe sent out the drunk Chassid on his rampage but he is indirectly responsible because the Rebbe doesn't allow his followers to have an education therefore they have no capacity for reason nor do they have any concept of civil behavior. In addition, the entirety of their Toyreh "learning" amounts to NOTHING as they have not learned from the Toyreh (or anywhere) how to behave as decent human beings.

I really don't get people sometimes. The few times I've been actually drunk it's resulted in a long nap and occasionally a run to the restroom. Of all the things to do, why joyride? And of all the things to joyride, why a garbage truck?

It sounds to me like the Skver bochurs need more entertainment options. They clearly have terrible taste when it comes to having fun.
