New Jersey's Governor Chris Christie is a favorite of many Orthodox and haredi voters, and he's viewed nationally as a blunt but honest politician.

But what is he really?

In reality, Chris Christie is a craven, selfish man.

He was the US Attorney during the beginning of the sting operations that used Solomon Dwek as a cooperating witness.

Without any trouble, Dwek delivered proof that several New Jersey and Brooklyn haredi rabbis were actively laundering money through an illegal operation in Israel. Dwek personally laundered tens of thousands of dollars with each of them, but there was clear evidence that what Dwek laundered was just a small percentage of what these rabbis were laundering every year.

But when Chris Christie found out that all Dwek had given the government was evidence against rabbis, he wanted to close the operation and leave those rabbis unprosecuted.

Christie's unethical behavior is documented in the CNBC American Greed episode on The Jersey Sting, based on Josh Margolin's and Ted Sherman's excellent book of the same name.

But why?

Why would a US Attorney walk away from prosecuting multiple felonies against active money launderers?

Politics.

It isn't good politics in New Jersey to arrest and prosecute haredi rabbis.

Therefore, Mr. Law and Order Chris Christie did not want to do it.

But his staff convinced him that Dwek would deliver politicians, as well, and they put Christie in a position where it would have been very difficult to pull the plug on the operation.

And then Christie left the US Attorney's position to – run for governor.

His temporary replacement kept the operation going and, in fact, ramped it up.

In the end, there were dozens of arrests and guilty pleas. Corrupt politicians were stripped of power.

And the rabbis?

All have pleaded guilty.

My beef against him is his weight, it could be an indicator of lack of self discipline, I admire him however for taking on the public union, especially the teachers's unions and their bloated pension which they did not have to put anything.

I am disappointed that he was reluctant to persecute Haredi rabbis, but at least the story had good ending where corrupted rabbis and politicians (who in turn got corrupted by Haredim) got  caught.

The chareidim as a whole hate Christy for the Dwek scandal. Christy never hesitated, and made his name famous through the Dwek scandals.

They arrested everyone at pretty much the same time and made it sound like it was one big group of organized crime with dozens of rabbis, rather than the sting operation it was.

Christie got elected because of the arrests.

Some chareidim did support him in the elections because they figured he'll win anyway, and they might as well curry favor with him, but all of them HATE him passionately.

I love Christie because he closed an $11 billion dollar deficit in his first year in office without raising taxes. He put the public sector unions in their place, yes - those same public sector unions that are milking the taxpayers dry. And the guy has guts; he's not afraid to stand up to the mafia-type unions.

I love Christie because he pushed through teacher tenure reform. See, until now, a teacher with seniority would get a job before a younger teacher, even if the younger teacher was a better teacher. Who gained? The unions. Who lost? The children. Christie changed that. Now, better teachers come first. A win for the children - better teachers - a loss for the unions.

I love Christie because he instituted the 2% property tax cap, over the democrat and public sector unions. The democrats and the public sector unions wanted property taxes to continue to rise 10% a year, as they did under democrats Corzine and McGreedy. The democrats and the unions wanted working middle class in NJ to deny their own children food, and to rather use that money to pay higher and higher property taxes to fund big government programs and a bloated public sector workforce. But Christie said enough is enough, and dragged those screaming democrats to vote with him on a 2% cap.

Christie has guts. He stands up for the little guy against the out of control public sector union mafias.

And finally, I love Christie because he defeated the corrupt Corzine, yes, the very same Corzine who went on to steal a couple of billion dollar$ from his clients at MF Global, but who was never prosecuted because he is a democrat.

Now you know the rest of the story. The story you won't hear in the liberal media.

In NY, NJ, Israel, and (I suspect) in any locale where Haredi congregate, they have outsized influence because of their numbers and their disciplined voting patterns. There is not one successful secular politician, whether Democrat, Republican, or Likud, who fails to pander to them. Christie is completely unexceptional in this respect.

Political life is made up of quid pro quos and no one knows this better than the Haredi. And, perhaps more importantly, from the standpoint of a politician, a Haredi community is like an ultra-low-maintenance girlfriend who sleeps with you whenever you want. They are generally uninterested in issues that concern the secular world. All you need do is give them an outsize share of social programs, and this is a very easy thing since the programs exist anyway and it is very difficult to prove that any particular group gets excessive benefits.

In a nutshell: the Haredi have figured out how to make democracy work for them.

I am an admirerer of Gov. Christie. New Jersey seems to be blessed with some very exceptional politicians lately.

The heroic mayor of Newark Cory Booker has great things in store for himself politically. Even though he's a Democrat, he had the guts to criticize the sleaze of President Obama's reelection campaign ads regarding Bain Capital.

Gov. Christie certainly would have been a better choice for the Republicans than the third rate clown that they're putting up for president.

Two different towns one hour apart HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, caused by the exact same culprits(Haredi) with the exact same result NO ACTION BY THE POLICE.
Conclusion: The Haredi BROW BEAT everybody down via:

1) Waving the race card

2) "Buying" the politicians via cash under the table or block vote so they are NOT held to the same standard as everybody else in the community.

SOLUTION: Term limits. So they can't use the same politican over and over again.
Take the $$$$ out of the hands of the politicians via TAX REFORM so they cannot GIVE block voters grants/welfare for the "block vote."
WELFARE REFORM of NO welfare program.

Let the community take care of their disabled/elederly via houses of worship like they did before the welfare program. Let the Veterans associations take care of Vets...etc.
THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FIT TO LOOK AFTER THOSE THAT CANNOT LOOK AFTER THEMSELVES. They take the money and give it to "special interest groups," for the vote LEAVING THE TRULY NEEDY WITHOUT HELP.

One of the reasons that alot of people don't get convinced by hateful people like you, is that you lie, mislead, and embellish facts to fit your agenda. Facts that many people know, but you obviously lie about.

Has anyone else noticed the irony, that if all the "hated" Republicans like Paul Ryan and Chist Christie would implement their very policies in Israel against the parasitical haredis, we would all be applauding them.

But in America, we hate them. Why? Because so many of us, right here on FM, are the same parasites as the haredim. We want those govt programs to continue, and these "hated" Republicans are going to take away all our free benefits.

Christie has taken some good budgetary actions, but he has also cozied up to a lot of extreme Muslims, including those in CAIR; he seems to have a blind spot when it comes to Muslim extremists, it worries me that he may someday hold national office.
