Pol Who Blocked Key Child Sex Abuse Bill Censured For Harassing Women
The NY Times reports:
Vito J. Lopez, the Brooklyn Democratic leader and longtime political power broker there, has been stripped of his committee chairmanship, barred from employing young people, and censured after an Assembly committee determined that he had sexually harassed two female employees this summer.Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, a Manhattan Democrat, said that the Assembly’s ethics committee had unanimously found allegations of both verbal and physical harassment to be credible.
“There were multiple incidents of unwelcome physical conduct toward one complainant, wherein you put your hand on her leg, she removed your hand, and you then put your hand between her upper thighs, putting your hand as far up between her legs as you could go,” Mr. Silver wrote, describing the committee’s findings.
He also said, “There was pervasive unwelcome verbal conduct by you toward both complainants from early June 2012 until the time they made complaints of sexual harassment in mid-July 2012, including repeated comments about their physical appearance, their bodies, their attire, and their private relationships.”
He said that Mr. Lopez “required” one of the women to travel with him to Atlantic City last month, where he attempted to kiss her, and that “she struggled to fend you off before you stopped, and that on the drive back from Atlantic City you again put your hand between her legs.”…
Vito is a scumbag.

These measures are long overdue. It's really sad that a small, but significant number of politicians like Vito Lopez manage to get reelected regularly and really disgrace the New York State legislature by their actions. It's ironic that the groups of citizens that really need honest effective legislators regularly get such low lives to represent them. But getting rid of such creeps will require prosecution and conviction which is a lot more difficult to obtain (eg: State Senators Pedro Espada and Hiram Monserrat).

Poor Vito, best friend of SatmarWilli's Zaloni askan/poverty pimp, David Niederman.
The shnook should have molested chasidish children and Niederman would have managed the cover up.
Well this shabbos will be tisha b'av for UTA, Niederman, and everyone with hopes of a new apartment (because Vito controlled the housing committee in the NYS assembly)
But there those of us who hope NYS will pass a Markey bill to extend the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits against sex offenders. This is great news because Vito was a powerful force in helping to block the Markey Bill.

The fact that a misogynistic, corrupt individual can get elected to American politics doesn't bode well for mankind. Where is the screening process in all of this? Oh, silly me, of course, money is what politics is all about.

Thanks Shmarya. This just confirms what I have been saying for a long time. Sex offences never get "true" retribution because the "system" is packed with sexualdeviants and degenrates, whether it is the politicians or the judges that they appoint.
Before anyone takes public office there should be a Psych test and a Pee test JUST LIKE IN THE NYPD OR OTHER CIVIL SERVICE JOBS. Politicians are not special they need to be vetted like anybody applying for civil service.
