Haifa’s Sephardic Chief Rabbi Suspected Of Fraud, Extortion
Shmarya Rosenberg • FailedMessiah.com
Haifa’s Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Shlush is reportedly being investigated by the the Anti-Fraud Unit of the Israel National Police. Police told the press yesterday that Shlush allegedly exploited his position as chief rabbi, using it to give favors to his associates.
Police think Shlush awarded kashrut certificates food processors in exchange for donations, and that he illegally forced kashrut supervisors to give him “incriminating” information about his opponents.
[Hat Tip: Seymour.]
I am dying to hear about what sort of information he sought and got. I will bet it was information to be used either to publicly bash his opponents or information he could use for extortion.

Ya gotta be kidding with that last name?
Wouldn't people be suspicious of someone asking for donations to the Shlush Fund?

How sick, to certify non-kosher food as kosher just to get a donation. He should be defrocked!

No, no, you're misunderstanding. He's the Chief Rabbi, so he is above reproach by definition. The donations were just because his admirers wanted to support the holy activities of such a godly man. And the "incriminating information" was to ensure that the community would not be harmed by evil ones(definition being those who weren't him.)
yes this is sarcasm

It's actually Shelouch or Sheloosh or Chelouche. It's just that Israelis pronounce it Shlush in the Israeli Sephardic pronounciation instead of the traditional (what I call "real") Sephardic pronounciation.

My understanding was that Ashkenazim ignore the sheva na' while the Sephardim put them in even where they don't belong.
But "Shalom Sheloosh?" Is his family Shelomo and Shemuel?
Accepting donations? Giving jobs to cronies? You can be sure we'll discuss this at the next Chief Rabbis' meeting. It'll be a "how-to" session.

the tip-off was the restaurant selling lobster and cheeseburgers with a rabbanut hechsher.

Further exposure of the fact that money has a bigger "god" than religion.
I only trust one rabbi, the little voice in my head that tells me that one can believe in god without the extra bullsh@t of religion and all that comes with it.
