The reason for the arrests of three haredim in the Stamford Hill neighborhood of London is unclear. The three were arrested yesterday in a sweep that also saw a number of non-Jews arrested, as well. Various rumors on the haredi street reportedly link the arrests to money laundering, to dealing in goods looted during the riots that rocked London a few months ago, or to fraudulent driver's license and identity paper schemes. Police have reportedly issued a gag order for the case.
