Chabad's Child Sex Abuse Coverup

The Melbourne Chabad child sex abuse scandal just gets worse as another community leader reportedly fails to cooperate with police.

Reuven Tatarka was the head of Lubavitch Youth in Melbourne at the time many of the alleged child rapes and child sexual assaults allegedly committed by David Cyprys at or near Chabad's Yeshiva College took place.

Police asked Tatarka to cooperate with the investigation into these horrific crimes.

But I'm told that Tatarka refused to cooperate in any way.

A courtroom observer told me that the lead police investigator on this case singled out Tatarka in court as someone who refused to answer even the simplest questions or to cooperate.

As head of Lubavitch Youth, Tatarka was also the head of Chabad's camps in Melbourne and ran programs that Cyprys had full access to.

Should Tatarka be allowed to hold any position of communal authority?

My source doesn't think so.

1) do you point fingers at everyone equally who covered up ctyprus/kramer and didn't co-operate with the police in the past and present or only some people?

2) are you aware the tatarkas and glicks evidence is merely hearsay at best and they really have no use in a criminal case at all?

you probably have point re tatarka IF the allegation is true, although i don't think its straight forward.. have to check with a criminal lawyer i guess.. glick not so much as he is in the SAME category as pretty anyone else who heard the rumors..

It is not a matter of finger-pointing.
Those leaders who were told, will be caught out and embarrassed unless they are honest. The truth HAS to come out in court.
As principal, Glick was a leader too.
Should a family have to testify against Glick before he overcomes memory loss? At least that didn't have to happen.
No-one should want the leaders to become victims as well.
Many who heard rumors were not in positions of authority, were not employers, were not camp leaders with legal obligations in such organisations. The alleged perpetrators WORKED there for extended periods despite people complaining right to the top about it.

Maybe CHABAD parents in Melbourne back then had nowhere else to school their sons?
Maybe, when an offender was charged and paid a $1500 fine, a parent had done all they could.
Maybe, by them it was too late.
Maybe, when Manny walked past YC years later and saw the offender standing there working again and smirking at him, the futility of ANYTHING but police action was evident.
Who would have dreamed that there were AT LEAST 12 alleged victims.

The Chief Examiner has extraordinary coercive and detention powers in relation to "organised crime".

And guess what: "organised crime" includes child sexual offences:

19. What is an organised crime offence?

An indictable offence against the law of Victoria, that is punishable by level 5 imprisonment (10 years maximum) or more and that-

(a) involves 2 or more offenders; and
(b) involves substantial planning and organisation; and
(c) forms part of systemic and continuing criminal activity; and
(d) has a purpose of obtaining profit, gain, power or influence or of sexual gratification where the victim is a child.

See definition in section 3 of the Act.

There is no privilege against self-incrimination, so all this Chabad nonsense about doing tshuva or "think of the community" is not only irrelevant, but could amount to contempt and land the subject in jail.

I reckon we release these hounds onto everyone who has been involved in the coverup and watch em all squirm.

For my part, I'll be investing in private prisons because they'll fill up pretty quickly.
