Brooklyn’s District Attorney Charles Hynes is apparently considering forming “a law enforcement expert committee to think about an approach” to the problem of witnesses intimidation in haredi sex abuse cases.

Brooklyn’s District Attorney Charles Hynes is apparently considering forming “a law enforcement expert committee to think about an approach” to the problem of witnesses intimidation in haredi sex abuse cases, Hella Winston has just reported in The Jewish Week.

The idea was suggested by former NYC Mayor Ed Koch in an email exchange with Hynes. Koch shared that exchange with The Jewish Week.

Hynes claims witness intimidation produces “terror” in haredi victims that is far greater than that experienced by witnesses “who deal with crooked public officials or organized crime thugs,” because haredim “believe they have no option but to remain living in the community which threatens to destroy them.”

In that email exchange with Koch, Hynes claims that his office has received many “allegations that some rabbis were actively counseling, intimidating and harassing victims of sexual abuse, coercing them from reporting abuse to authorities.” Hynes tells Koch that he considered having a victim wear a wire, his office has “never been successful in getting a victim to agree to the level of cooperation.”

But, like much else Hynes has claimed with regard to crime in the haredi community, that appears to be false.

Ros Dann, a spokesperson for the victims’ advocacy organization Survivors for Justice, told The Jewish Week that “the fact is, SFJ has brought complainants to the DA’s office with complaints of direct intimidation, who wanted to file charges and were willing to cooperate in any investigation,” Dann continued. “The DA not only did nothing, but ignored repeated attempts by these complainants to follow-up with his office. We have the paper trail to prove it.”

Many MANY and even more have been victims and have been victimized through all these unjust and unfare inflictions. Let there be a free and wide open investigation for all to see on all the issues where Henna has been involved, and let the truth be known about ALL the corruption, special deals, backdoor deals, intimidations together with who were their COHORTS! Let the chips fall where they may, and PEACE shall reign.
