The Jerusalem Post reports:
During the day [today] police arrested a man and a woman accused of attacking a 70-year-old woman [Sarah Vorst] two months earlier. The couple suspected the woman of being involved in the pedophile ring that terrorized the neighborhood. The male suspect was remanded until Friday and the female suspect remanded until at least Thursday.
Sarah Vorst is an awful person, to be sure, but there is no evidence I've seen that points to her being a pedophile.
And there most likely is no pedophilia ring in the Nachlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem to begin with.
That is not to say that some, although not many or most, of the more than 100 alleged victims were not molested.
But trace the pedophilia ring rumors to their source and most of them land at the doorstep of a deranged woman with long history of erratic lying.
Those rumors were enhanced and inflamed by irresponsible freelance social workers with no training in dealing with or investigating child sex abuse cases, by well meaning but over matched parents, and by a well meaning (perhaps) but irresponsible rabbi, and the rumors flourished because Israel's police are slow and incompetent, especially when dealing with child sex abuse cases.
In the meantime, the actions of these people have probably destroyed whatever case might have existed.
