Witness Tampering, Extortion Alleged In Haredi Child Sex Abuse Case

Victim's family sends letter to D.A. detailing alleged extortion and witness tampering from haredi rabbinic supporters of an accused pedophile, Joseph Gelbman (pictured at right), against his alleged child victim and his family. But will the D.A. do anything to protect the victim?

It's going to take this woman and a lot more like her to break this stranglehold the rabbis have over their sheeple.

This is an allegation at this point, but she certainly has risked everything in both worlds (legal and religious) in making it. I see no incentive for her to lie here - this seems beyond credible.

I don't know if this letter will avert a sweetheart deal for Gelbman. Such deals have allowed notorious offenders (like Kolko) to get off with probation and without being placed on the sex offender's registry.

I hope it will stop any such deal the DA was contemplating in response to KJ pressure and 'persuasion."

However, even if victim families are helpless against the continuing collusion of DAs with ultra orthodox communities, they can stop the lie that the victims and the victims' families did not want to proceed to trial.

Now, let's see if the media rise to the challenge of targeting the DAs insteading of giving us lousy anthropology about "insular communities."

what a disgrace and i am not talking about Joseph Gelbman but about the principal and this guy hagar. Doing all they did to this family and the boy who is learning disabled is beyond comprehension.

now that is has been made public will the principal and hagar suffer any consequences from the community or will all their anger go toward this family

sadly history says all the anger will go against the family and the principal and hagar will be elevated since they are under attack by someone and maybe the legal system

He does not radiate innocence. But still, plenty of people who look like him are in fact decent and plenty of abusers look quite innocent.

Besides, the big deal in this case is Rabbi Hager and the whole culture of keeping these guys around to do this over and over. Have these guys no decency. I wonder if they aren't closest apikorsim. A believer would trembles at the thought of arriving to the final judgment with the blood of so many children on their hands. In fact an apikores-mensch would not be able to sleep knowing about such things.

Yet these guys are gangsters who have no remorse and will doubtlessly ecalate their coercive tactics as the case continues. If the DA does a sweetheart deal it is time for higher levels in government to come in and investigate corruption.
