Two More Leading Haredi Rabbis Hospitalized
Rabbi Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss, the chief rabbi of Edah Charedis, and Rabbi Ahron Leib Steinman, Ashkenazi haredism's number two rabbi, were both hospitalized. Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, the leading Ashkenazi haredi rabbi, has been hospitalized for days and is currently on life support. Elyashiv is 101, Steinman is in his late 90s, and Weiss is in his 80s.

The Gavaad of the Eida Chareidis, HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss Shlita is hospitalized in Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center. It appears the Gavaad was transported to the hospital on Sunday afternoon, 19 Shevat 5772, apparently for treatment of pneumonia.
The rav is receiving intravenous antibiotic therapy. He is admitted to the sixth floor, four floors below Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita.
The tzibur is requested to be mispallel for the gedolei Torah, Rav Yosef Sholom [Elyashiv] ben Chaya Musha, Rav Aaron Yehuda Leib [Shteinman] ben Gitel Feiga, Rav Yitzchak Tuvia [Weiss] ben Rikal and Rabbi Yaakov Chai [Yosef] ben Margalit for a refuah shleima b’soch kol cholei am yisrael.

HaRosh Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita has been hospitalized in Bnei Brak’s Mayanei HaYeshua Hospital, reportedly with a fever of unknown etiology. The rav was taken from his home at 5 Chazon Ish Street in Bnei Brak.
The rav has been weak over recent weeks, but this morning, Monday, 20 Shevat 5772, his fever went up drastically, prompting the decision to hospitalize him. It appears the rav is receiving intravenous antibiotic therapy and fluids to counter his dehydrated condition.
The tzibur is requested to be mispallel for the rav, Rav Aaron Yehuda Leib ben Gitel Feiga as well as for Rav Elyashiv Shlita, Rav Yosef Sholom ben Chaya Musha b’soch kol cholei am yisrael.
The follows of Weiss are sworn enemies of Steinman. they regularly refer to him as being evil, etc... They rip his picture off of posters hung in their areas.
Steinman is one of the more sane and rational thinking senior rabbis in Israel today, so it makes sense the brain dead comatose Mea Sheraim dwellers dont like him.

This is a tradition in ultra Orthodoxy that if a leader --- even if 109 year old --- falls ill it is treated as if a 29 year old guy got hit by a truck. A catastrophe.
Let everyone live and be healthy, but some rational thinking here please. In the Torah the great leader of "orthodoxy" Moses is told point blank by his boss: you are gonna die just like everyone else on this earth.
And the people accepted this as human...

But fyi,its not the mea sheurim's only who don't approve of him,
It was Harav Shach who greatly disliked him, for the same reasons you like him.
And let him have a refuah shliema and hope he will come to his senses,and backtrack his "sane" positions.

And who did they ask shaalos from before allowing them to go to hospital at all I wonder? There are women in those places and it's a big shaaloh.

why is it necessary to go to a hospital? its a waste of time. learning and tefila isnt enough? will they answer, "you must do proper hishtadlus" ?
how come that doesnt apply in defending the country by joining the army?

Maybe they all ended up in the hospital because non of them ever said anything against all those molesters in israel and non of them spoke against the thugs who spat on those little girls on their way to school. Good is basically saying to them that you aren't needed anymore because you don't act like leaders unless it means money in your pockets

Yeah! And what about those people who paid Kupat Ha'ir so these Gedolim would daven for them so they get the "yeshuos" that Kupat Ha'ir promises? Um, how is that working out exactly? Do those people get a refund if the gedolim die or are on life support and unable to daven? Or are there "backup gedolim" lined up to fill in. And how many of the lesser backup gedolim's tefillos will it take to equal the "real" gadol's prayers? All these things have to be taking into consideration, especially when people are counting on the Yeshuos and paid good money for them!!

My Lubavitcher nephew, when he was freshly indoctrinated, used to go on about the sole purpose of the life of a Jewish male being to learn "Toyreh" (he still believes it; he's just a little more careful now about saying it). One day, I suggested that some of the doctors to whom his teachers go when they're ill must be Jews. He told me most or all of them are. I asked him, "If they'd avoided university, as you insist they should, and spent their days doing nothing but studying Torah, who'd treat these people?"
Naturally, he had no answer.
