Video: Woman Attacked By Haredim In Beit Shemesh
Three haredi men were arrested for their participation in a haredi mobs attack on a woman in Beit Shemesh this week. Here's video of the woman and her damaged car.
Three of the dozens of men who participated in this attack have ben arrested.
why I understand why she said I am Jewish it should not make a difference
amazingly with all the negative publicity the continue in their stupid ways
I guess when one thinks god commands something nothing else matters. and shining a light on their behavior is a good thing since they feel they are protecting god words for all to see and are showing how devoted to god they are
Bottom line unless Israel deals with these nuts harshly they will only gain strength and momentum
every time a judge give them a ridiculous sentence they see it as god hand at work. And not leniency form a secular judge for whatever reason either pity, political

More so (from VIN)
Israel - Jerusalem District Court on Thursday released three men to five days house arrest for alleged involvement in an attack by ultra-Orthodox men on a woman hanging up posters for the Mifal Hapayis national lottery in Beit Shemesh on Tuesday.
BIG deterrence! This should put an end to it - HOUSE ARREST for 5 days!

They should at least be sentenced to a week at the King David Hotel and not be allowed to use the spa or tennis court.

It will only stop when the hariedeshi are smacked hard. The Israelis' are not taking this seriously at all. This is a monster that will only get worse unless they show them brutallity that even the hardishe cannot even think of.

As someone who grew up in the most ultra Orthodox neighborhood I am shocked how this society has morphed into this monstrosity. This type of behavior would have been condemned in no uncertain terms, by the old Klausenburger, Tzelemer, Puper, Satmar etc. Rabbis, HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS WHO WERE HAPPY THAT THEY WERE LEFT ALONE IN PEACE!
What happened???!!!

As I posted previously, but haven't seen any follow up in the articles...
The woman said she works for a company that can improve chances of winning the lottery, and that she works a lot with haredi, in their homes.
But, you'd have to be an uneducated and superstitious dolt to believe you can "improve" your chances of winning the lottery by anything other than buying more tickets, AND she was certainly working an area of uneducated, superstitious dolts (unemployed as well) who just might fall for lottery snake oil.
And she says she often works with the haredim.
Was she where she was because she and her firm are scamming the haredi? Doesn't seem to be the reason she was attacked, nor would it justify it, but would be an interesting inquiry.

Eli, do you see any reason that would justify this vicious attack by dozens of holy men on a single woman?
Posted by: who knows | January 27, 2012 at 07:05 AM
No. Which is what I wrote. But since I referred to them as "uneducated and superstitious dolts" I can see how you might have misunderstood.
Do you think that systematic under-education on basic skills makes the haredi an easy mark for scammers?

a serious deterrent is only serious if it carries substantial penalties. These thugs should face jail time measured in years -- where is Judge Reade when we need her. Give these bums five years in the slammer and you'll see a reduction in such behavior. And if that doesn't convince them, increase it to ten years. Enough of this uncivilized behavior.

And according to the Jerusalem Post I believe, the three men that were arrested were sentenced to five days of HOUSE ARREST. It's unbelieveable. I think part of the reason the government is so pathetic when it comes to dealing these people what they actually deserve is because they just want their peace and quiet. People in Israel need to realize the seriousness of crimes like these and start putting these sick abusers in prison, where they belong. The whole Haredi mentality is that if you aren't subservient to their every whim, they'll get violent. It needs to end, and soon.

It seems that Haredim who are accused of crimes always get house arrest, and then everybody forgets about it. What about Yisrael Vales, that Mea Shearim guy who was accused of killing his 3-month-old infant? He got house arrest in 2006 and we haven't heard word one about a trial since:

"Modesty Patrols" in Israel = "Minister of Vice & Virtue" in Arab lands.
A Fundy is a Fundy. Fundies across the board--be they Jewish, Christian or Muslim--may as well all get together and Fahrbreng till they're blue in the face...with a Mechitza, of course!

The "old guard" from Europe, which knew suffering outside of Eretz Yisroel, has been dying off. They would have never tolerated this behavior from their children.
But their children and grandchildren grew up in relative comfort without having to earn it. And this is the result.
