Wall Poster On Public Bus Gender Segregation
A pashkvil on mandatory gender segregation of a so-called mehadrin public bus photographed today in Ramot Gimmel.
The above pashkvil (wall poster) says men should board and sit at the front of the bus and women should board and sit at the back of the bus. Men should exit from the front and women from the rear. But women who board must allow the driver to validate their ticket rather than allowing the women to self-validate them, as was the previous practice.
The poster was photographed in Ramot Gimmel about one hour ago.
[Hat Tip: Ma Hei Li.]
But women who board must allow the driver to validate their ticket rather than allowing the women to self-validate them, as was the previous practice.
I don't quite get what this means and what halachic issues are at play.

I think there is a new ticket system and type of ticket.
The old system allowed women to validate their own tickets to keep them separate from the men.
The new system requires women to give their tickets to the driver and then, after validation, exit the bus and re-enter through the back door.

good exercise

I think that what it means is that the women should get on at the back, and pass their tickets up to the driver, and then have it passed back to them. This is not an uncommon practice in Israel (it is somewhat less common in New York, for some reason).

Would someone please tell me where Ramot Gimmel is?

That’s nuts! So at a busy stop all the men first enter (the women must wait since they can't mix with the men) then they go up validate the ticket and then go down and then enter to the rear. What a logjam at the entrance.
Better to have the women board first, get the ticket validated have them walk to the rear amid the hooting and whistling and groping from the men then the men board.

Better to just have men and women board at the front and sit wherever the hell they want.

How about replacing the poster with one that says Jews must enter the bus at the back while gentiles sit at the front? Give these hate filled scum a taste of their own medicine.

So with black hats it's either inconvenience the haredi women or the haredi men will grope them? Really? Either/or?
How about a second pass validator in the back of the bus - networked to the front?

Public groping of women on trains is a problem in Japan, which is why they have a separate car. Some men there simply cannot control themselves. This may have something to do with why Hashem has given us Fukushima but I digress.
Using this excuse is dishonest because it's not a problem in Israel. The troglodytes need to oppress women, so they look for any legitimate excuse. This is an enemy tactic of course, par for the course as far as Haredim go. I bet part of them wishes they were born Arab so they could get their 72 virgins.

To clarify:
Until recently, you could buy in Jerusalem:
Single Travel
10 travels
Monthly pass
On the 10-travels ticket, the bus driver makes a hole (with a special stapler that has specific form that changes all the time) in the hard-paper). Whoever has the monthly just have to show the driver the pass.
On mehadrin buses (for example, Number 40 that goes around Ramot), the women would themselves make the holes as EGGED (the bus company) PUTS THIS STAPLER ON THE SECOND HALF OF THE BUS FOR THE WOMEN. This is not done in any other buses, only on the mehadrin!!!
I´ve seen many times a women not payment or going to the bus driver to buy a ticked (or a 10-travel-card) because they did not want to go to the "men´s place".
Now, the system changed to an automated card. The machine is near the driver and so far, there isnt one in the middle of the mehadrin buses...
I wonder who wrote it.
It smells as egged is somehow backing it...

All females must pass their used sanitary napkins to the men in front so that they can use them as teabags.
Misogynist mother fuckers. I can't believe women will actually lie back and let these little pricks inseminate them. Better to deny them and bring this abortion to an end.

Ridiculous.
This is medievil behaviour and last time I checked Israel had good bus transport not public horse and buggies. Maybe some people are just stuck in a time warp.

The best system would be to have double decker busses so women and children sit below and the men go upstairs. Its done in certain pizza shops in Brooklyn and works out well. They can also do this on double decker planes as well. This will make eveeryone happy.

Double decker planes? That might not be possible. How about bringing back dirigibles? They can build them with double decker seating. If , chas v'shalom, anyone violates the separate seating arrangement, they can be tossed out the door! If there are multiple offenders, it could be exploded like the Hindenburg , Iy'm

Very smart! An other option is to have them use a bus that has two sections. Here in New York they have a bus, the Flyer D60HF, one can have the women in the front section and the men in the back (ok, it can be reversed too).

Why not simply have separate cities? The men could take the bus there once a week to do their "Sabbath duty", and the women need never leave.

To JPACNYC,
You are getting your idea of sovereignty mixed up. That pizza shop you describe sounds like one dull place.
